The vehicle control apparatus suppresses performing the side collision avoidance control in a case where the sideward object is located in an overlapping area between a sideward detection area and a frontward detection area, as compared to a case where the sideward object is located in a non-overlapping area that is a rest of the sideward detection area other than the overlapping area.
