The present invention provides N-acetyl derivatives of sialic acids, including N-acetyl derivatives of Neu5Ac and Neu5Gc. Methods for preparing related precursors and a variety of sialosides are also disclosed.

A method for providing access to objects associated with a particular client in a cloud storage system is disclosed. The method includes the steps of establishing a connection with a user, providing a client namespace associated with the client to the user, where the client namespace represents objects stored on the cloud storage system and objects stored on a private storage system apart from the cloud storage system, receiving a request from the user to access an object stored on the private storage system, and providing information to the user to facilitate access to the object stored on the private storage system by said user. Other systems and methods are also disclosed. Important advantages of the present invention are facilitated by separating the logic for user access (control plane) from the actual storage (Storage plane). Private file system access can still be managed from the cloud, while keeping the client data private.

A data processing device incorporates a plurality of chiplets having working elements such as processing and memory elements. At least one of the working elements is operative to generate messages directed to working elements of the same chiplet or another one of the chiplets. Each message includes a global address. An evaluation circuit determines whether the global address of a message is within a range of global addresses assigned to the chiplet. If so, the message passes to a translation circuit which translates the message to a local address for routing to a working element of the chiplet. If not, the message is dispatched to one or more other chiplets.

Presented herein are systems and methods for an end-to-end solution for object removal from a video using adaptive learning. In one or more embodiments, using a pre-trained image inpainting model, in-scene training data may be generated using optical-flow guided sampling. In one or more embodiments, the sampled patches are used to generate a training dataset, which is used to further train the image inpainting model until reaching a stop condition. The adaptively trained inpainting model may be used to generate a modified video in which the desired object or objects have been removed and the corresponding removed portion(s) have been filled (or inpainted) to preserve the integrity of the image.

A plasmonic device incorporating a special hyperbolic metamaterial (HMM) metamaterial is used for plasmonic lithography, including ultraviolet (UV) lithography. It may be a Type II HMM (ϵ<0 and ϵ>0) whose tangential component of the permittivity ϵis close to zero. Due to the high anisotropy of the Type II epsilon near zero (ENZ) HMM, only one plasmonic mode can propagate horizontally with low loss in a waveguide system with ENZ HMM as its core. In certain aspects, a Type II ENZ HMM comprises alternating layers of aluminum/aluminum oxide films and the associated unusual mode of light transmission is used to expose a photosensitive layer in a specially designed lithography system. Methods for making patterns of nanofeatures via such plasmonic lithography are also provided, including as a plasmonic roller device.

Techniques for establishing connections between user devices and headless devices attempting to connect to networks. A headless device may attempt to connect to an access point that requires interaction with a captive portal webpage for access to a network. However, the headless device my lack a display to present the captive portal webpage. The headless device may establish a connection with a user device using a PAN protocol. The headless device may then receive the captive portal webpage received from the access point, and relay the webpage to the user device using the PAN protocol. A user may use the user device to interact with the captive portal webpage, and the user device may then relay interaction data back to the headless device using the PAN protocol. The headless device may then provide that interaction data to the access point to be provided access to the network.

Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described to increase a signal-to-noise ratio difference between a main channel and reference channel. The increased signal-to-noise ratio difference is accomplished with an adaptive threshold for a desired voice activity detector (DVAD) and shaping filters. The DVAD includes averaging an output signal of a reference microphone channel to provide an estimated average background noise level. A threshold value is selected from a plurality of threshold values based on the estimated average background noise level. The threshold value is used to detect desired voice activity on a main microphone channel.
