Wind turbines including a hub rotatably mounted on a frame are disclosed, wherein the hub includes a bearing arranged around the frame, a main hub body extending in an axial direction from a front end to a rear end, and including a central opening for fitting the main hub body around the bearing. A bearing adapter is attached to the bearing, and the bearing adapter is in contact with and fixed to an axially facing surface of the main hub body. Also methods for mounting are disclosed.

The invention relates to a method of estimating a distance to a surface, whereby an emitter emits light towards a surface, at least some light being reflected by the surface, the surface comprising a detectable feature, the reflected light being received by a first receptor and by a second receptor, the surface being in movement relative to the receptors, the first and the second receptor receiving the light reflected at a first and at a respectively second angle thereby producing a first and a respectively second dataset, each dataset including data representing said feature, the first and the second angle being different, whereby the distance is estimated using the first and the second dataset.

A method of one embodiment of the invention is disclosed that determines the temperature and/or firing resistance of a thermal fluid-ejection nozzle as the fluid-ejection nozzle is fired. A multicolor-printer has at least a first and a second print station, first and second optical sensors and a surface recordings comparator. The first and second print stations are arranged to print images on a surface of a moving recording medium. The first and second optical sensors view, at the first and second print stations, an area of the recording medium surface to obtain at least one first surface recording, in a manner related to the first print station's image printing, and second surface recordings, respectively. A storage is arranged to store the first surface recording. The surface recordings comparator is arranged to test, during the recording medium movement, for correspondence of second surface recordings with the stored first surface recording. The printer is arranged to repeatedly, within one image, register raster lines of the image of the second print station to corresponding raster lines of the image of the first print station in response to correspondences found between the first and second surface recordings.

An encoding system for determining position and position changes of a moving member has a sequence of encoder marks forming incremental patterns and at least one index pattern. Two subsequent incremental patterns are indicative of an incremental position-change of the moving member and the index pattern is indicative of a reference position of the moving member. A sensor arrangement views a section of the encoder-mark sequence, the length of which is greater than one position-change increment. An analyzer is arranged to analyze an encoder-mark pattern in the viewed section with regard to the incremental patterns and the index pattern and to generate, in response to a pattern match found, at least one of an incremental-position-change signal and an index signal.

Encoding system

A printing device has a plurality of print stations including dot-forming elements arranged to produce an image on a moving recording medium and provided in a redundant manner, thereby enabling dot-forming-element activity to be distributed between redundant dot-forming elements and errors of dot-forming elements to be compensated. A lateral-position detector arrangement or predictor is arranged to indicate the recording medium's lateral position relative to the print stations during a print process. A controller is arranged to use at least one print mask for each print station to distribute the dot-forming-element activity between the print stations and to compensate the errors of dot-forming elements. The printing device is arranged so that, in response to a detected or predicted change of the relative lateral position, at least one of the currently used print masks is replaced by another one relating to the changed relative lateral position.

Compensation of lateral position changes in printing

By implementation of an optical scanner, the calibration of printheads of a printing mechanism may be performed in a relatively short period of time as compared to known techniques. In one respect, the time required to perform the calibration may be substantially reduced by virtue of the relatively wide field of view of the optical scanner. The relatively wide field of view generally enables for the scanning of test patterns to be performed with a relatively fewer number of scanning passes, thus reducing the time required to perform the scanning operations as well as the calibration operations. In addition, the scanning operations may yield relatively more accurate results as compared to known scanning operations. In one respect, optical scanners are capable of detecting smaller drops of ink on print media by virtue of their higher resolution capabilities. In another respect, all of the printed colors may be accurately detected through implementation of a red, green, blue (RGB) charge coupled device (CCD) contained in the optical scanners.

Method and system for calibrating ink ejection elements in an image forming device

An arrangement for preventing electromagnetic interference is aimed at attenuating electromagnetic emissions in electronic apparatus, especially those having a printed circuit board, a conductive enclosure, and requiring external connections to other devices. The arrangement comprises a division of the printed circuit board into two zones, a first zone having sources of unwanted electromagnetic energy, and a second zone which is electrically connected with the first zone via conductors which allows the second zone to connect to other devices. Filtering devices are incorporated into the printed circuit board and, in conjunction with integrated conducting zones, provide suitable connections to a metallic protecting enclosure in order to remove or to attenuate unwanted signal components from the signals being transmitted from the first zone to the second zone via the conductors. The protecting enclosure components enclose at least portions of the first zone of the printed circuit board for shielding direct electromagnetic emissions originating from the first zone.
