A polymer composition comprising a star-branched copolymer having a plurality of arms is disclosed. Each polymer arm has a molecular weight Mp of from 1 kg/mol to 50 kg/mol and comprises polymerized units (i) derived from a first vinyl aromatic monomer comprising a radical-reactive group, wherein from greater than 10 mol % to 100 mol % of the units (i) are unhydrogenated; and optionally, polymerized units (ii) comprising hydrogenated and unhydrogenated forms of polymerized units derived from a high Tg monomer, and hydrogenated form of polymerized units (i) or hydrogenated form of polymerized styrene units; and optionally, polymerized units (iii) comprising (a) hydrogenated form of polymerized units derived from one or more acyclic conjugated dienes, and (b) polymerized units derived from one or more of a second vinyl aromatic monomer; wherein less than 10 wt. % of units (a) are unhydrogenated.

Block copolymers and uses thereof

A resin composition that allows production of laminated sheets excellent in heat resistance and processability is disclosed. The resin composition comprises: a) a block copolymer, where the block copolymer comprises at least one polymer block comprising polymerized acyclic conjugated diene units, such as butadiene units, and at least one polymer block containing units like a conjugated cyclic diene such as 1,3-cyclohexadiene or monomer units characterized by unit Tg above 100&#xb0; C., b) a curing initiator, and c) optionally diene-based polymer selected from a polybutadiene polymer and the copolymer of butadiene with styrene or other styrenic monomers, c) optional additives comprising but not limited to a multi-functional co-curable additive, a diene based rubber, a halogenated or non halogenated flame retardant, an inorganic or organic filler or fiber, an antioxidant, a adhesion promotor, a film forming.

Block copolymer compositions, prepregs, and laminates made therefrom

A selectively hydrogenated block copolymer of general formula S-E-S, (S-E)X, or mixtures thereof is disclosed, where n has a value of 2-6, and X is a coupling agent residue. Before hydrogenation, S is a polystyrene block having a molecular weight of 4,400-5,600 g/mol, and E and E1 are polydiene blocks having molecular weights of 18,000-36,000 g/mol and 9,000 to 18,000 g/mol, respectively, selected from polybutadiene, polyisoprene and mixtures thereof, and having a total vinyl content of 60-85 mol %. After hydrogenation, the block copolymer has 0-10 percent of styrene double bonds reduced and at least 80 percent of conjugated diene double bonds reduced. The block copolymer has a solution viscosity of less than 80 centipoise (cP); a polystyrene content of 25-40 wt. % and up to 50 wt. % of diblock units of general formula S-E or S-E.

Ultrahigh melt flow styrenic block copolymers

The disclosure relates to a hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer with high vinyl content, low viscosity, low order-disorder temperature and improved processability. The hydrogenated styrenic block copolymers can be extruded or molded with a minimum of additives. The hydrogenated styrenic block copolymers have high melt flows allowing for ease in processing such as injection molding, overmolding, dipping, extrusion, roto-molding, slush molding, fiber spinning, film making, 3D printing and foaming.

This disclosure relates to a block copolymer composition comprising a tetra-branched block copolymer (IV) having a true number average molecular weight of 40,000 to 120,000 represented by the general formula (A-B)4X; a tri-branched block copolymer (III) having a true number average molecular weight of from 30,000 to 90,000 represented by the general formula (A-B)3X; di-branched block copolymer (II) having a true number average molecular weight of from 20,000 to 60,000 represented by the general formula (A-B)2X; and a linear diblock copolymer (I) having a true number average molecular weight of from 10,000 to 30,000 represented by the general formula A-B; where A represents a polymer block of a mono alkenyl arene; B represents a polymer block of a conjugated diene, wherein the B has a true number average molecular weight ranging from 7,000 to 20,000 g/mol; and X represents the residue of an alkoxy silane coupling agent.

Styrenic block copolymer compositions

The present invention relates to advanced flame/fire retardant compositions for fabric, upholstery, carpet, barrier, automotive, building construction, communication, and consumer electronics applications. The flame retardant composition comprises: about 5-25 wt. % hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer, about 6-40 wt. % polyolefin, about 50-80 wt. % inorganic flame retardant, about 0-5 wt. % coating, about 0-5 wt. % functionalized styrenic block copolymer, about 0-7 wt. % agri-derived heat resistant liquid, about 0.05-1.0 wt. % antioxidant, and about 0-7 wt. % optional additives such as metal deactivator, colorant, filler, and/or lubricants, wherein said composition totals 100 wt. %. An article made from the flame retardant composition, such as film, fiber, cable, and wire insulation meets various European and U.S. standards. The flame retardant compositions possess a good balance of tensile strength, elongation, flame resistance, and processability that has previously been unobtainable.

The present invention relates to novel compositions comprising (a) anionic block copolymers of mono alkenyl arenes and conjugated dienes, and (b) tailored softening modifiers have a particular polydispersity index that results in a surprising improvement in properties for the composition. Also included are processes for the manufacturing such novel compositions and various end-uses and applications for such compositions.

Hydrogenated block copolymer compositions

A novel process for preparation of block copolymers containing, for example, alpha-methyl-styrene/styrene glassy blocks is claimed, where the glassy blocks contain 25-50 mol % alpha-methyl-styrene and have Tg values in the range of 120 to 140&#xb0; C. The copolymerization process, which is conducted at 35 to 60&#xb0; C. and relatively high solids contents and with continuous addition of styrene, results in very high conversions of the alpha-methyl-styrene. Selectively hydrogenated block copolymers having high glassy block Tg values are also disclosed and claimed as well as high service temperature elastomeric compositions comprising the block copolymer and an olefin polymer or copolymer.

High temperature block copolymers and process for making same

The present invention relates to a photo-curable polymer composition comprising: a) a first block copolymer comprising at least two blocks A of polymerised mono-vinyl aromatic monomer, and at least one block B of polymerised conjugated diene monomer, wherein the total polymerised mono-vinyl aromatic monomer content is in the range from 5 to 25% by weight of the block copolymer; b) 5 to 10% by weight of a second block copolymer having one block A of polymerised mono-vinyl aromatic monomer and at least one block B of polymerised conjugated diene monomer, wherein the total polymerised mono-vinyl aromatic monomer content is in the range from 5 to 50% by weight of the block copolymer, alkoxy or epoxy functional groups; and c) at least 5% by weight of a low molecular weight block copolymer, wherein the total of (b) and (c) is from 15% by weight to 80% by weight, the low molecular weight block copolymer having one block A of polymerised mono-vinyl aromatic monomer, and at least one block B of polymerised conjugated diene monomer, and having a weight average molecular weight in the range of from 1,000 to 35,000.
