A method for controlling the quality of storage media, and more specifically a method for determining if the quality of a storage medium decreases. The method includes: determining one or more quality parameters of the storage medium; and comparing one or more of the determined quality parameters with previously determined quality parameters of the storage medium stored in a memory in case the quality of the storage medium has been determined before.

A management device (D) that is part of a communication network (R) to which can be connected items of communication equipment (T-T) constituting peers storing content data and operating in P2P mode. A method and apparatus for error correction of an encoded data stream. A demodulated data stream is saved in an input buffer. A first correction process is performed on-the-fly in the input buffer. The data is transferred to an external SDRAM after correction. A data frame is copied from the external SDRAM to an embedded SRAM. A multipass correction is started in the embedded SRAM. The corrected data frame is copied back from the embedded SRAM to the external SDRAM.
