An aqueous dispersion comprises a silicone composition dispersed in an aqueous phase. The silicone composition comprises a product of a reaction of (a) an alkenyl-containing organopolysiloxane having an average per molecule of at least 2 alkenyl groups and (b) an Si H containing siloxane having an average per molecule of at least 2 Si H moieties. The dispersion also comprises a hydrosilylation catalyst, a polymeric film former and a surfactant of molecular weight below 1600. The composition is stabilised in dispersion form by the surfactant dissolved in the aqueous phase and the polymeric film former, and is capable of forming a tacky layer on drying.

Aqueous silicone dispersions and their preparation

A silicone acrylate hybrid composition includes the reaction product of a silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, and an initiator. The silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition includes acrylate or methacrylate functionality. A method of making the hybrid composition includes polymerizing the ethylenically unsaturated monomer and the silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition in the presence of the initiator.

Silicone acrylate hybrid composition and method of making same

This invention provides a single phase silicone acrylate formulation that resists phase separation and includes (A) at least one of a silicone, an acrylate, and combinations thereof. The single phase silicone acrylate formulation also includes (B) a silicone acrylate hybrid compatibilizing agent including silicone functionality and (meth)acrylate functionality and that is the reaction product of a silicon-containing pressure sensitive adhesive composition, a (meth)acrylate, and an initiator. A method of minimizing phase separation of the single phase silicone acrylate formulation includes the step of combining (A) and (B) to form the single phase silicone acrylate formulation.

A controlled-release composition for topical application to a substrate includes an oil-in-water emulsion and an active agent incorporated into the oil-in-water emulsion. The oil-in-water emulsion is substantially free of lipophilic solvent and is formed by mechanical inversion of a water-in-oil emulsion. The water-in-oil emulsion includes a silicone component, a surfactant, and water. A method of delivering the active agent to the substrate provides the oil-in-water emulsion and incorporates the active agent into the oil-in-water emulsion for delivery of the active agent to the substrate upon application of the oil-in-water emulsion to the substrate.

A silicone adhesive composition used for adhering a device or a substance to a wet surface contains (i) a silicone resin that is cohydrolysis product of a trialkyl hydrolyzable silane and an alkyl silicate in which the cohydrolysis product contains a plurality of silicon-bonded hydroxy groups; (ii) a linear organopolysiloxane fluid containing terminal silicon-bonded hydroxy groups having a viscosity above 200,000 mm/at 25&#xb0; C.; (iii) a trialkylsiloxy terminated polyorganosiloxane fluid having a viscosity of 100,000-600,000 mm/at 25&#xb0; C.; (iv) a water soluble muco-adhesive polymer selected from the group consisting of a poly(ethylene oxide) polymer having a molecular weight of 100,000 to 8,000,000, an acrylic acid polymer having a molecular weight of 500,000 to 4,500,000,000, and a hydroxyethylcellulose polymer having a molecular weight of 90,000 to 1,300,000,000; and optionally, (v) a solvent selected from the group consisting of aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, volatile linear and cyclic silicone compounds. Other components such as a silicone polyether, a silicone wax, a drug, an excipient, and/or an active ingredient can also be included.
