One-part, curable compositions that have a soft feel when applied as a coating/film and cured, may include a) at least one isocyanurate tri(meth)acrylate or derivative thereof; and at least one of components b)-e), wherein: b) is at least one urethane diacrylate; c) is at least one monofunctional or difunctional reactive diluent; d) is at least one solvent; and e) is additives. The one-part, curable compositions are advantageous with respect to softness and tailorability of softness as well as other properties such as mar resistance, abrasion resistance, stain resistance and chemical resistance. Due to their advantageous properties, embodiments of the one-part, curable compositions described herein are viable for a wide range of coating applications including automotives, aeronautics, cosmetics, small appliances, packaging and consumer electronics. Methods of making and using the one-part, curable are also described herein.

One-part curable soft feel coatings

The present invention relates to a specific radiation-curable coating composition for improving the surface adhesion of plastic parts and its uses as a primer coat, as a base coat or as a clear coat. The composition may be pigmented or unpigmented and may be cured by UV and/or EB. The invention also relates to cured coating resulting from this cure and to the coated plastic substrate with improved surface adhesion.

Radiation-curable coating composition for improving the surface properties of plastics

This polymeric composition comprises a blend of polymers comprising: (a) a semi-crystalline fluorinated polymer, (b) an acrylic polymer, and is characterized in that it additionally comprises: (c) from 0.01 to 20% by weight, with respect to the total weight of the semi-crystalline fluorinated polymer and of the acrylic polymer, of a nucleating agent in the form of particles having a melting point greater than that of the semi-crystalline fluorinated polymer. These compositions result in formulations in the form of dry powders or of powders in suspension in water or in a latent solvent for the semi-crystalline fluorinated polymer. Applied to a substrate, these formulations give, by baking, glossy and stable coatings comprising spherulites with a size of less than 5 &#x3bc;m.

The invention relates to an impact additive of the core/shell type for thermoplastic polymers. This impact additive comprises a crosslinked elastomeric core based on n-alkyl acrylate and a shell made of poly(alkyl methacrylate) grafted onto said core.

Impact additive of the core/shell type for thermoplastic polymers

The invention concerns a method for polymerising at least one olefin in the presence of at least a catalyst comprising a sequence E&mdash;M&mdash;X wherein E represents an oxygen or sulphur atom; M represents a nickel or palladium or platinum atom; X represents a phosphorus, arsenic or antimony atom in a medium comprising a continuous liquid phase containing more than 30 wt. % of water. The method can result in a polymer latex of at least one olefin.

Method for polymerising olefins in the presence of water

A latex which forms a film by evaporation at a temperature of less than 40&deg; C. is based on hydrophobic polymer particles having a core/shell structure. The particles consist of 70 to 90% by weight of at least one polymer with a soft character having a glass transition temperature of less than 20&deg; C. forming the core, and 10 to 30% by weight of at least one polymer with a hard character having a glass transition temperature of greater than 50&deg; C. forming the shell. When applied to any surface and after drying at low temperature, the latex, without the use of any coalescents or volatile organic compounds, provides a continuous film which is homogeneous, has no surface tack and has good mechanical integrity.

Low-temperature film-forming latex based on hydrophobic polymers having a core/shell structure without coalescents
