A process for manufacturing chromenes intended for the preparation of thermosetting resins, includes transforming an aromatic propargyl ether of general formula (I) into a chromene by homogeneous gold(I) catalysis with the catalyst (acetonitrile)[(2-biphenyl)di-tert-butylphosphine]gold(I) hexafluoroantimonate in an organic solvent under an inert or non-inert atmosphere. Moreover, a process for preparing a material made of thermoset resin, includes successively a) implementation of the above process; polymerization of the reaction product obtained in step a) so as to obtain the material made of thermoset resin; c) recovery of the material made of thermoset resin obtained in step b).

Gold-catalysed process for manufacturing chromenes intended for the preparation of thermosetting resins

A process for producing chromenes intended for the preparation of thermosetting resins, includes converting an aromatic propargyl ether of general formula (I) into a chromene by homogeneous catalysis with copper salts in anisole at a temperature between 100 and 170&#xb0; C. A process for manufacturing chromenes which are intended for the preparation of thermosetting resins, includes transforming an aromatic propargyl ether of general formula (I) into a chromene by flash vacuum thermolysis, at a temperature of between 300 and 600&#xb0; C., at a pressure of between 4 and 10,000 Pa. Thermolysis-mediated process for manufacturing chromenes intended for the preparation of thermosetting resins

The invention relates to a curable resin that represents an excellent substitute for phenolic resins and is therefore able to replace phenolic resins in all applications in which they are used. Said resin is characterised in that it comprises: (1) at least one prepolymer resulting from the prepolymerisation of a compound A comprising at least one aromatic or heteroaromatic ring, a first group &#x2014;O&#x2014;CH2-C&#x2261;CH and at least one second group selected from the groups &#x2014;O&#x2014;CH2-C&#x2261;CH2 and &#x2014;CH2-CH&#x2550;CH2, said groups being carried by the at least one aromatic or heteroaromatic ring; and (2) a compound B comprising at least two thiol groups (&#x2014;SH). The invention also relates to a material obtained by curing said curable resin, and in particular to an ablative composite material. The invention further relates to a material obtained by curing said curable resin.

Curable resin as a substitute for phenolic resins and the applications thereof

A sizing composition for reinforcing fibres is provided which makes it possible to improve the adhesion of these fibres with respect to an organic matrix that forms, with them, a part made of a composite material and that results from the chain transfer polymerization of a curable resin. The sizing composition includes a polybutadiene prepolymer comprising at least two epoxide functions, a cross-linking agent comprising at least two reactive functions, at least one of which is a thiol function; and a catalyst comprising at least one tertiary amine function. The subject matter of the present invention is a photopolymerizable liquid composition comprising at least one epoxidized polybutadiene prepolymer, at least one cationic photoinitiator, and at least one thioxanthone-derived photosensitizer, which can, for example, be in the form of a liquid dressing. The subject matter of the invention is also a process for obtaining a polymerized film from said photopolymerizable liquid composition, characterized in that said composition is applied to tissues such as the skin, the skin appendages or the mucous membranes so as to form a uniform liquid film, and the film thus obtained is subjected to ultraviolet radiation, preferably ultraviolet-visible radiation having a wavelength of between 380 and 405 nm, preferably between 385 and 395 nm.

A curable composition, and a material obtained by curing the composition, in which the curable composition includes a vinylester polymerisable compound, jointly with a sulphonated polyaromatic thermoplastic polymer, and an N-vinyl lactam, and which is characterised in that it further includes, a first non-vinylester polymerisable compound which includes at least one isocyanurate group bearing at least two (meth)acrylate groups; and a second non-vinylester polymerisable compound which includes at least one carbopolycyclic or heteropolycyclic group bearing at least two (meth)acrylate groups.

Curable compositions allowing to obtain materials having an optimised performance, and materials obtained from said compositions

A method increases the toughness of a material obtained by curing a composition that includes at least one vinyl ester monomer. The method includes the incorporation into the composition of a sulfonated polyaromatic thermoplastic polymer, which is achieved by dissolving the vinyl ester monomer and the thermoplastic polymer in a reactive diluent in which they are both soluble. The resulting curable composition includes at least one vinyl ester monomer, and very high toughness materials can be made from it. A curable composition can include at least one vinyl ester monomer, a sulfonated polyaromatic thermoplastic polymer and a N-vinyl lactam. The compositions can be used in the aeronautical, space, railway, nautical, automotive industries, arms and other industries.

Increase in the toughness of a material obtained from a curable composition comprising at least one vinyl ester monomer

The invention relates to a process for improving the adhesion of carbon fibres with regard to an organic matrix forming a composite material with these fibres, this composite material being obtained by bringing the fibres into contact with a resin which can be cured by chain polymerization and then polymerizing the resin, which process is characterized in that it comprises the grafting, to the surface of the fibres, before they are brought into contact with the resin, of groups capable of acting as chain transfer agents during the polymerization of said resin.
