Hybrid rope () comprising a core element () containing high modulus fibers surrounded by at least one outer layer () containing wirelike metallic members (). The core element () is coated () with a thermoplastic polyurethane or a copolyester elastomer, preferably the copolyester elastomer containing soft blocks in the range of 10 to 70 wt %. The coated material () on the inner core element () is inhibited to be pressed out in-between the wirelike members () of the hybrid rope () and the hybrid rope () has decreased elongation and diameter reduction after being in use.

Hybrid rope

A hybrid rope () or a hybrid strand () comprising a core element (), a first () and a second () metallic closed layer surrounding said core element (). The core element () includes a bundle of synthetic yarns. The first metallic closed layer () includes a plurality of first strands of wires helically twisted together with the core element () in a first direction. The second metallic closed layer () includes a plurality of second wires or strands helically twisted together with said core element () and said first metallic closed layer () in a second direction. The cross-sectional area of the core element () is larger than the total cross-sectional area of the first () and second () metallic closed layers. A corresponding method of producing such a hybrid rope or hybrid strand is also disclosed.

Hybrid rope or hybrid strand

A rope () comprising a core element () surrounded by a plurality of helically twisted and compacted steel strands () comprising steel wires () having a nominal tensile strength of at least 1960 N/mm. The core element () comprises natural fibers having a linear density of at least 50 g/m.

Compacted hybrid elevator rope

The invention relates to a hybrid rope having a core containing high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) yarns surrounded by an outer layer containing steel wire strands, wherein the core is coated with a plastomer, the plastomer being a semi-crystalline copolymer of ethylene or propylene and one or more C2 to C12 &#x3b1;-olefin co-monomers and the plastomer having a density as measured according to ISO1183 of between 870 and 930 kg/m.

An electric transmission-cable is provided, comprising a cable core having at least two individually coated and stranded wires, and a conductor surrounding the core, wherein the core is compacted. Further, a method of fabricating such compacted steel core is provided.

Hybrid rope () having a core containing synthetic yarns (), surrounded by an outer containing steel wire strands (), the rope being terminated at least at one of its ends by a socket () having a conically shaped space (), which has a conical angle &#x3b1; of between 2 and 8&#xb0; and a length of between 5D and 20D, D being the smallest diameter of the conically shaped space, the core containing synthetic yarns and the steel wires having been untwisted at said at least one of the ends, the open space () around the untwisted wires and fibers in the hollow conical body of the socket being filled with a resin.

An aquaculture net comprises steel wires. At least the upper part of the net comprises steel wires having a tensile strength greater than 1500 MPa. This leads to an aquaculture net with an increased life time.

A steel rope safety system includes at least one steel rope having at least one strand, and the at least one rope or at least one strand is compacted. Further, a method is provided for making a steel rope safety system comprising the step of providing at least two wires, the step of stranding the wires thereby forming a strand for a rope and the step of compacting the strand. The steel rope safety system includes a guardrail system having vertical poles and horizontal compacted ropes which are held in place by hooks. The steel rope safety system may include non-round shaped, such as trapezoidal shaped compacted wires. There is likewise provided the use of compacted steel ropes as impact reducing material.

A yarn () comprising two or more bundles (), each of said bundles comprising at least thirty metal fibres () is described. The bundles of the yarn are twisted with one another with a predetermined number of torsions per meter, said predetermined number of torsions permeter is smaller than 80 per meter and larger than 10 per meter. By doing so, an improved flexlife of the yarn can be obtained.

The invention relates to an aquaculture net () comprising steel wires () having a steel core () and a tuneable metal coating () in the form of a strip to improve anti-corrosion and anti-fouling properties. In comparison with the prior art, the metal coating can be thicker and can have a composition that is homogeneous over its thickness.
