A reamer has a basic tool body made of hard metal () and a plate-like cutting insert () inserted into a recess () at the front. The cutting insert () is at least partially made of polycrystalline diamond, its cutting edges () situated axially offset relative to the cutting edges () on the basic tool body (), thus engaging with the workpiece later.

Reamer

A reaming tool includes a main tool body disposed about a rotational axis, a plurality of peripherally arranged cutting inserts coupled to the tool body, and a fine adjustment mechanism associated with each cutting insert. The adjustment mechanism includes an adjusting screw with a conical section that acts on the cutting insert for fine adjustment, the conical section being arranged between a first and a second cylindrical guide section. The two guide sections ensure high-precision guidance of the adjusting screw.

A multi-flute reamer includes a cutting portion having a forward end and a rearward end, and a chip flute with a chip gash opening, and a cutting insert mounted on the cutting portion. A leading edge is formed at an intersection between a top surface and a radially-outward side surface, and a front edge is formed at an intersection between the top surface and a forward side surface. The cutting insert includes a rounded lead cutting edge formed at the intersection between the leading edge and the front edge, and the top surface includes a chip breaker having a bottom surface formed with a radius, R.

The invention relates to a regulating element for a cutting member clamped in a tool seat of a cutting tool, comprising a cylindrical basic body, and an active surface impacting the cutting member at a face side when in a mounted state, having a contour deviating from the cylindrical shape at the cylinder sleeve of the basic body as anti-twist protection for the regulating element.

A rotating cutting tool includes a single or multi-piece support part having an end face and a circumferential wall, an interchangeable cutting insert provided at or about the end face, and at least one interchangeable guide insert coupled to the support part via a retaining means. The at least one interchangeable guide insert being free of cutting edges and protruding radially relative to the circumferential wall. The at least one interchangeable guide insert including a guide section which protrudes radially furthest outward. The guide section lying axially at the level of the retaining means and offset from the retaining means in the circumferential direction.

Cutting tool for a machine tool

A tool interface that is easy to produce but also precise, for coupling a tool head to a tool shank in a centered manner in respect of a shank axis, comprises a first interface part that is connected to the tool shank or to the tool head, and a second interface part that is connected to the respectively other tool part, namely, to the tool head or to the tool shank. The two interface parts have interface surfaces that substantially complement each other and are intended to bear flatly on each other. The interface surface of the first interface part comprises an inner cone surface and an outer cone surface, which surrounds the latter on the outside and coaxially. The interface surface of the second interface part comprises an outer cone surface, which corresponds with the inner cone surface of the first interface part, and an inner cone surface, which corresponds with the outer cone surface of the first interface part. In the case of a first invention variant, an annular web formed between the inner cone surface and the outer cone surface of the first interface part is slotted by at least one recess. In the case of a second invention variant, the second interface part has a central bore surrounded coaxially by its outer cone surface, an annular web formed between the outer cone surface and this bore being in this case slotted by at least one recess.

Tool interface

An expandable reamer includes a shank portion, a cutting portion extending from the shank portion, and a tapered pin capable of being at least partially received in the cutting portion. The cutting portion includes a plurality of blades separated by flutes, and a tapered inner surface with threads. The tapered pin includes a tapered outer surface with threads and causes expansion or contraction of the cutting portion when the tapered pin is screwed or unscrewed into the cutting portion. In one embodiment, a coolant channel extends from a coolant cavity through a wall of the cutting portion to provide fluid to the blades during machining of through-holes. In another embodiment, the tapered pin includes a coolant passage in fluid communication with the coolant cavity to provide fluid to the blades during machining of blind holes.

A milling cutter for machining work pieces, which comprises at least one cutting insert that can be adjusted by an adjusting element. The adjusting element is a one-piece element having an adjusting cone that extends between a screw head and a threaded shank. The adjusting cone engages with a recess provided in a lateral face of the cutting insert, which recess may also have a conical shape which substantially corresponds to the conical shape of the adjusting cone.
