An apparatus, system and method for tracking objects within a venue. A plurality of detector stations are disposed throughout the venue. Each detector station includes an imaging assembly, a transceiver, and a symbology accelerator having least one processor. The processor is configured to obtain image data captured by the imaging assembly and analyze the image data to detect one or more objects. Each of the one or more objects includes a symbol indicative of an object identifier. The processor is configured to decode each of the symbols to obtain the respective identifier and associate the detected objects or respective symbols with a respective physical location within the venue. For each of the one or more objects, the processor is configured to transmit, via the transceiver to a remote server, at least one data packet including the respective physical location and the identifier for the object.

Systems and methods tracking objects within a venue using a symbology accelerator

At least some embodiments of the present invention relate to approaches for displaying encoded information and systems used to capture said information. In an embodiment, the present invention is a method that includes: providing a product packaging having a first face; providing a first symbology on the first face; providing a second symbology on the first face; and providing a third symbology on the first face, wherein the second symbology is the first symbology distorted in accordance with a first distortion function, the first distortion function distorting at least one of an aspect ratio and a skew pursuant to a first parameter; and wherein the third symbology is the first symbology distorted in accordance with a second distortion function, the second distortion function distorting at least one of the aspect ratio and the skew pursuant to a second parameter, the second parameter being different from the first parameter.

Methods and products for displaying encoded information and systems associated therewith

Targets to be read by image capture are illuminated and imaged over an extended range of working distances. A near imager captures return light over a relatively wide imaging field of view from a target located in a close-in region of the range. A far imager captures return light over a relatively narrow imaging field of view from a target located in a far-out region of the range. A single illuminating light assembly is shared by both the near and far imagers. An illumination light source emits illumination light, and an illuminating lens assembly optically modifies the emitted illumination light, and simultaneously illuminates a wide illumination field to illuminate the target located in the close-in region of the range, and a narrow illumination field to illuminate the target located in the far-out region of the range.

Imaging module and reader for, and method of, illuminating and imaging targets to be read over an extended range of working distances

An arrangement for, and a method of, controlling image exposure in an imaging reader for reading symbols, employ an illuminating light assembly for illuminating a symbol with illumination light, a solid-state imager for capturing return light from the symbol over a field of view, and a controller for successively exposing the imager over a first exposure time period to capture the return light from, and to optimally image, a first area of the symbol, and over a second exposure time period to capture the return light from, and to optimally image, a second area of the symbol. The first and the second areas have different light intensity levels. The first and the second exposure time periods are different in duration. The controller is operative for combining the optimally imaged first and second areas to read the symbol.

Arrangement for and method of controlling image exposure in an imaging reader

Management data is uploaded and downloaded in the field to data capture systems, such as electro-optical readers, RFID readers, and imagers, either before, after, or during data capture in a manner transparent to the system without disturbing the data capture.
