A composition and method of treating paint spray booth water to detackify organic solvent based paint particles. The composition comprises a melamine polymer obtained from the reaction of melamine, aldehyde and an amine selected from the group consisting of dicyandiamide and glycine. These melamine polymers may be used in combination with a polyacrylamide, which combination exhibits surprising and unexpected effects when used to detackify organic solvent paint particles.

Paint spray booth organic detackification treatment

A method of comprising iron in an aqueous system comprising adding to the system a copolymer of styrene sulfonic acid and methacrylic acid or its water soluble salt in an amount effective to disperse the iron contained therein.

Method of dispersing iron

A tire tread adhesive or cement having superior green tack, excellent cured adhesion, and rapid drying time is disclosed. The tread cement comprises a water-in-oil emulsion having an oil continuous phase in which is dissolved a vulcanizable rubber compound. The water-in-oil emulsion tread adhesive may contain from 20-80% water, thereby minimizing environmental contamination on drying.

Water-in-oil emulsions of copolymers of acrylamide and dimethylaminopropylacrylamide are disclosed. These polymers find use as retention aids in the manufacture of paper and as dewatering agents for municipal and industrial aqueous waste materials. Phosphate esters including polymers are produced by mixing polyols, such as glycerol, with phosphoric acid material followed by heating under reduced pressure in the presence of inorganic base to temperatures of from about 135.degree. to 165.degree. C. By maintaining reactants under subatmospheric conditions, water is removed as formed. The products have utility as scale suppressant additives to water used in heat exchange and cooling tower applications.

Process for making phosphate esters and products thereof

A process for preparing cationic acrylamide polymers through the reaction of a formaldehyde-secondary amine adduct with a water-in-oil emulsion of finely divided acrylamide polymer formed by treatment with an oxygen containing halogen free inorganic acid or its alkali metal salts. The resulting products are further characterized in that they can be inverted easily into aqueous solution. Compositions produced by the invention are also disclosed.

Novel ionene polymers are formed by the Mannich reaction of an aromatic molcule having an electron withdrawing group with a lower aliphatic aldehyde and a lower aliphatic secondary amine followed by polymerizing the Manniched derivative by the use of chain extenders from the group of di-functional condensation monomers consisting of epihalohydrins and 1,4-dihalobutene-2. Additionally, the polymers may be prepared by substituting some or all of the secondary amines above with a primary amine and quaternizing the resultant polymers formed to increase the molecular weight of the product. The products of this invention have utility as polymers useful for water clarification and as emulsion breakers for water-in-oil or oil-in-water emulsions. These polymers and their quaternary salts have also a special utility here as an electroconductive coating which, when applied to paper specially as a substrate, produce an electroconductive surface adapted for electrographic printing. In the group above specially preferred polymers are those prepared from tris(dialkylaminomethyl)phenol and a chain extender such as 1,4-dichlorobutene-2 (DCB) or epichlorohydrin and a bismethylchloride quaternary of tris(dialkylaminomethyl)phenol with the same chain extenders and their particular use as conductive resins or polymers. A preferred polymer in this group is from tris(dimethylaminomethyl)phenol. Obvious equivalents of bismethylchloride quaternaries are quaternaries prepared from other lower alkyl halides such as ethyl, propyl, and butyl where the carbon chain length is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6.
