White lighting device for retail illumination

White light emitting module

A light emitting arrangement is adapted to produce white output light of a total luminous intensity Itot and having an emission peak in the wavelength range of from 400 to 440 nm, comprising: a first light emitting element adapted to emit light of a first luminous intensity Iand having an emission peak in a first wavelength range of from 440 to 460 nm; and a second light emitting element adapted to emit light of a second luminous intensity Iand having an emission peak in a second wavelength range of from 380 to 440 nm, wherein the first light emitting element and the second light emitting element are independently controllable such that Ican be adjusted independently of I. The possibility of controlling the contribution of deep blue light allows a natural appearance of a crisp white light source at all emission intensities, and may also be used to enhance perception of contrast.

Light emitting arrangement with adjustable emission spectrum

A solid state lighting module is disclosed. In one example, the module comprises a light source and a resistor circuit, wherein an output resistance of the resistor circuit is for conveying to a connected driver information on a desired power to be applied to the solid state light source. A control interface is provided for receiving configuration information from an external configuration device and a control circuit configures the resistor circuit thereby to set the output resistance in response to received configuration information. This approach involves integrating the configuration function in the lighting module instead of in the driver. The output resistance can be determined by existing driver architectures without modification, while at the same time the ability of the user to tailor individual lighting modules to their needs is enabled.

Solid state lighting module, a lighting circuit and lighting control methods

Proposed is a lighting moduleand an illumination devicecomprising such a module. The lighting module comprises an array of LEDsmounted on a substrateand an optical structureencompassing the LED array for approximating in operation the LED array as a single homogeneous light source. The optical structure comprises an optical elementarranged to provide a luminous intensity profile as a function of a deviation angle a which is substantially constant between &#x2212;&#x3b1;and &#x3b1;, wherein &#x3b1;is a maximum deviation angle provided by the optical element and substantially zero at angles outside that range. This is especially advantageous for optimizing the trade off between creating a single homogenous light source and maintaining the entendue of the light source. An additional advantage of the optical elementis that, except for fresnel reflections on both surfaces, it has no backscattering like a diffuser has, which results in a very low optical loss.

LED light source

A light-emitting arrangement () is disclosed, which is adapted to produce white output light enhancing the color perception of e.g. food in retail environments. The light-emitting arrangement comprises at least one blue light-emitting element () adapted to emit light having an emission peak in a first wavelength range of from 440 to 460 nm, and at least one deep blue light-emitting element () adapted to emit light having an emission peak in a second wavelength range of from 400 to 440 nm. Further, the light-emitting arrangement comprises at least one narrow band wavelength converting material () arranged to receive light emitted by said deep blue light-emitting element, and at least one broadband wavelength converting material () arranged to receive light emitted by at least one of said blue light-emitting element and said deep blue light-emitting element. A spotlight comprising such a light-emitting arrangement, and an illumination device comprising a plurality of the light-emitting arrangements, is also disclosed.

Light emitting arrangement with adapted output spectrum

Driver circuits () for driving light circuits () comprising light emitting diodes are provided with converters () for converting input signals into output signals comprising pulses per cycle. The converters () comprise adapters () for, in response to differences between measured amplitude values of the input/output signals and nominal amplitude values of the input/output signals, adapting widths of the pulses. Then, signals having relatively precise amplitudes are no longer required. Said adapting may comprise increasing/decreasing the widths in case the measured amplitude value is smaller/larger, respectively, than the nominal amplitude value. The measured amplitude value divided by the nominal amplitude value is equal to a correction value. An adjusted duty cycle of the output signal may be made equal to a nominal duty cycle of the output signal divided by the correction value. Said adapting may be performed in a production/testing process environment.

Adaptable driver circuit for driving a light circuit

A light-emitting device (), comprising an LED-module () comprising at least one LED mounted on a carrier and at least one connection pad (-) for electrical connection of the LED module (), a heat dissipator () for dissipating heat generated by the LED when in operation, a connection board () comprising a substrate having a conductor pattern for enabling provision of external power to the LED module (), an interconnecting arrangement (-) comprising at least one connection spring (-) attached to the connection board () electrically interconnecting the at least one connection pad (-) of the LED module () with the conductor pattern of the connection board (), and an LED-holder comprising at least one holding spring (-) attached to the connection board () exerting a spring force there by pressing the LED-module () against the heat dissipator () to provide a thermal connection between the LED-module () and the heat dissipator (). The interconnecting arrangement (-) is configured to allow movement between the conductor pattern of the connection board () and the at least one connection pad (-). The at least one connection spring (-) constitutes the at least one holding spring (-), to simultaneously electrically interconnect the at least one connection pad (-) of the LED-module () with the conductor pattern of the connection board () and press the LED-module () against the heat dissipator ().

A method of mounting a light emitting diode (LED) module () to a heat sink (), the method comprising the steps of placing the LED module () in a hole () in the heat sink (); and expanding a portion of the LED module () such that the LED module () is secured to the heat sink (). The method provides a cost efficient way of securing an LED module to a heat sink where the mount has a high reliability over time.

An active matrix display device comprises an array of display pixels, with each pixel comprising an EL display element, a light-dependent device for detecting the brightness of the display element and a drive transistor circuit for driving a current through the display element. The drive transistor is controlled in response to the light-dependent device output so that ageing compensation can be implemented. The light-dependent device is located laterally of the area of light emitting material of the EL display element. In this way, the light-dependent device does not cause step coverage problems and can be integrated into the pixel layout without affecting the pixel aperture. Furthermore, the light dependent device can extend alongside the full length of the area of light emitting material so that it receives light input from a large part of the display element area.

Electroluminescent display devices

Various techniques are described for improving the color uniformity across a backlight for backlighting an LCD. In one embodiment, the backlight uses rows of red, green, and blue LEDs in a mixing chamber. The LEDs are arranged in clusters, such as GRBG or GBRG, each cluster having an associated white point. In order to achieve color uniformity along the left and right edges of the backlight, the LEDs in those edge clusters are specially selected to compensate for the color imbalance in the white point relative to the dimensions of the cluster. For example, a non-compensated cluster of GRBG along the left edge will produce a reddish tint along the left edge since the red peak intensity is to the left of the center of the cluster. To offset this reddish tint along the left side, the cluster's overall white point is blue-cyan shifted. As a result, the left edge of the backlight has the same white point as near the middle of the backlight, where the white point imbalance of a single cluster is offset by the white point imbalance of the surrounding clusters. Similarly, a GBRG cluster along the left edge will have its white point red-yellow shifted.

A magnetic tunnel junction device has a multi-layer structure including a pair of electrode layers of a ferromagnetic material and a tunnel barrier layer of an insulating material between the electrode layers. In order to realize a low resistance, the multi-layer structure also includes an intermediate layer provided between the barrier layer and one of the electrode layers and including a conductive material having a work function with a value which is at least 25% lower than the value of the work function of the material of the respective electrode layer.
