A method of analyzing a complex rhythm disorder in a human heart includes accessing signals from a plurality of sensors disposed spatially in relation to the heart, where the signals are associated with activations of the heart, and identifying a region of the heart having an activation trail that is rotational or radially emanating, where the activation trail is indicative of the complex rhythm disorder and is based on activation times associated with the activations of the heart.

Method for analysis of complex rhythm disorders

A method and system for determining a source of a cardiac rhythm disorder includes collecting cardiac signals at a plurality of locations during a cardiac arrhythmia and identifying activation times within the cardiac signals. After computing the time-dependent phase of each region of tissue, a level of phase synchrony is determined between each pair of locations to assign a synchronization number for each pair of locations. Using the synchronization number, a spatial synchrony map is generated to identify one or more asynchronous tissue regions surrounded by regions of synchrony in the patient's heart.

System and method to determine driving sources of heart rhythm disorders

Methods and systems are provided for determination and mapping of vector fields which characterize wavefront motion through space and time. The inventive methods and systems utilize data from spatially-distributed locations and maps wavefront vector flow fields in an entirely automated manner. Further, the strength of rotation or divergence is determined from these fields and can be used to select spatial points of significantly increased rotational or focal activity. The information related to the strength and location of rotation and centrifugal activity during episodes of arrhythmia can guide therapies designed to treat such disorders.

A system to generate a representation of a rhythm disorder includes a plurality of sensors disposed at multiple locations spatially in relation to the heart, wherein cardiac information signals are sensed. A processor receives and analyzes the activation onsets of the cardiac information signals to determine an arrangement of activation onsets. A representation that indicates the clinical source of the rhythm disorder is generated based on the arrangement of the activation onsets.

A method of detecting a cause of a heart rhythm disorder includes collecting data corresponding to activation onset time of each heart activation at multiple locations of the heart and generating an activation trail based on the sequential order of activation onset times.
