An endoluminal graft includes a tubular graft material having a closed sleeve integral with the tubular graft material. The closed sleeve extends a distance along the tubular graft material. A length of wire extends at least partially along the distance and is enclosed by the sleeve. The tubular graft material and the sleeve may comprise a single piece of graft material. The sleeve may be a closed circumferential sleeve and/or a closed longitudinal sleeve.

A tubular graft for use in a stent graft. The tubular graft may include a first woven layer that forms a first side of the tubular graft, where the first woven layer has a set of first warp ends. A second woven layer may forma a second side of the tubular graft, where the second woven layer has a set of second warp ends, and where the second warp ends are distinct from the first warp ends. An implantable medical device, such as an aortic aneurism repair stent graft, includes a framework of struts that includes a plurality of vertices. A fabric is in contact with the framework, and attached to the fabric at each of the vertices with a respective compound stitching connection. The compound stitching connection includes a plurality of short span fixation stitches and a fan spread of long span tear resistance stitches.

A stent has a tubular shaped framework that includes a plurality of vertices that are each defined by a pair of struts. A plurality of induction responsive muscles are associated, respectively, with one of the plurality of vertices by being attached to each strut of a pair of struts. The induction responsive muscles have a relaxed state at body temperatures, and have a contracted state at an elevated temperature greater than body temperature. If the stent has an initial unsatisfactory implant orientation or position or other expansion irregularity, the application of an electromagnetic induction field may be applied to temporary 11 reduce the diameter of the stent to adjust its positioning and/or orientation.

An endoluminal prosthesis system for being deployed in a patient's aorta near the heart, includes a graft having a main body with a proximal end configured to be deployed near a patient's heart and a distal end configured to be deployed away from the patient's heart. The main body defines a proximal portion of the graft including the proximal end; a distal portion of the graft including the distal end; a middle portion of the graft extending between the proximal portion and the distal portion. A connection branch attached to the middle portion has an inner end attached to the middle portion and an outer end disposed radially outwardly from the inner end. The outer end of the connection branch includes a terminal ring composed of at least two partial rings pivotable relative to each other and including at least one radially outward barb.

Examples of a stent are provided with interlocking joints removably coupling adjacent axial stent segments. Mating elements forming the interlocking joints maintain engagement when the stent is in the radially compressed configuration, for example, during tracking of the stent to a treatment site of a body vessel, and become disengaged during radial expansion of the stent. When disengaged, the disconnected the axial stent segments remain discrete stent structures separated from one another along the point of treatment.

An intravascular medical device is prepared for shipping by being sealed within a sterile volume of a package. Prior to closing the package, an intravenous liquid solution is pumped into and through the medical device to displace all air bubbles. The liquid is pumped at sterilization temperatures corresponding to when the liquid has a low viscosity, but the liquid is chosen to have a relatively high viscosity at room temperatures corresponding to when the package is opened for use. The liquid solution remains adsorbed to the interior surfaces of the medical device at room temperature against a force of gravity. The strategy reduces the risk of air embolism when a medical device is put into use.

A stent delivery assembly includes a delivery balloon defining a balloon axis, and a stent disposed around the delivery balloon. The stent has interconnected struts, and the delivery balloon has a balloon surface with a number of strips that are disposed on the balloon surface and extend along the balloon axis, the strips having an unhydrated state and a hydrated state, the strips having a smaller volume in the unhydrated state than in the hydrated state. For a stent composed of axially aligned segments connected via connectors disposed between adjacent ones of the segments, the strips have a length greater than an axial distance between axially outermost connectors connecting the adjacent ones of the segments.

A method of sequenced deployment of an endovascular device comprises delivering, into a body vessel, a Nitinol structural element comprising n deployable regions each having a local austenite finish temperature above body temperature. The local austenite finish temperature of at least one of the n deployable regions is different from the local austenite finish temperature of another of the n deployable regions. During and/or after delivery, the Nitinol structural element is heated above body temperature, and each of the n deployable regions is deployed when the local austenite finish temperature thereof is reached. Thus, a deployed configuration of an endovascular device is achieved in a sequenced deployment process.

A medical device, deployment systems and methods of use thereof are provided. The medical device includes at least one anchor element coupled to a device body. The anchor element has a first configuration disposed about an anchor axis and configured to pierce a body tissue wall. In a second configuration, the anchor elements have an enlarged shape, and in response to a temperature rise in the anchor element, the pierced body tissue wall is drawn closer to the device body. The anchor element maintains alignment substantially with the anchor axis to inhibit tearing of the pierced body tissue wall by the anchor element. The system may include balloons for targeting the radial pressure of the anchor elements into the body vessel wall. The anchor elements may be made of shape memory materials capable of localized heating due to an induction device.

A magnetic field device for directing a magnetic coupling source includes an electrical power source, a control module, a muzzle, and an electromagnet adjacent the muzzle and connected to the electrical power source. A magnetic sensor within the muzzle is adjacent to the electromagnet. A magnet loading chamber is adjacent to the electromagnet magnetic and opposite to the magnetic sensor. The magnet loading chamber is configured to accommodate one or more permanent magnets. A magnetic shield surrounds exterior surfaces of the electromagnet and magnet loading chamber. A user operable control device is electrically connected to the electromagnet and to the electrical power source. The control device regulates an amount of electric current from the electrical power source to the electromagnet. A magnet guidewire delivery system includes a guide wire having a magnetic element and a magnetic field device generating a magnetic field that couples with the magnetic element.

A method of making a superelastic medical device with a radiopaque marker includes threading a radiopaque marker having an elongated shape over a wire comprising a shape memory alloy. After the threading, the wire is secured in a predetermined configuration to a mandrel. While secured to the mandrel, the wire is heat set in an environment comprising an inert gas so as to impart a memory of the predetermined configuration to the wire and superelastic properties to the shape memory alloy. A superelastic medical device including the radiopaque marker is thus formed.
