An embodiment of a unit pixel of an in-plane switching (IPS) mode LCD device includes a plurality of pixel electrodes arranged in the unit pixel region, wherein each pixel electrode is configured to apply a pixel voltage from the data line, and a plurality of common electrodes correspondingly arranged in the unit pixel region, wherein each common electrode is configured to apply a common voltage from a common line in parallel with the data line to form electric field in conjunction with the corresponding pixel electrodes. The unit pixel region is vertically divided into over three sub-regions, at least one pixel electrode spans all sub-regions, and a bent angle of the at least one pixel electrode in a sub-region is different from the bent angle of the at least one pixel electrode in an adjacent sub-region, wherein the bent angle is measured relative to the gate line.

A liquid crystal display device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a liquid crystal display panel which has a plurality of data lines, a plurality of gate lines crossing the data lines, and a plurality of liquid crystal cells that are defined by the data lines and the gate lines; a first data driver disposed at an upper side of the liquid crystal display panel to supply data to odd-numbered data lines; a second data driver disposed at a lower side of the liquid crystal display panel to supply data to even-numbered data lines; a first gate driver disposed at a left side of the liquid crystal display panel to supply a scan pulse to odd-numbered gate lines; and a second gate driver disposed at a right side of the liquid crystal display panel to supply a scan pulse to even-numbered gate lines, and wherein at least any one of the data lines and the gate lines has a line width that varies along its length.

An IPS mode LCD device is disclosed, in which liquid crystal molecules are aligned at multiple angles in one unit pixel region to improve response speed without reducing an aperture ratio and improve transmittance-voltage characteristics. The IPS mode LCD device includes multiple gate and data lines arranged on a first substrate to cross each other to define unit pixel regions, wherein each pixel region is divided into first, second and third sub-regions. Thin film transistors are arranged at each crossing point, common lines are parallel with the gate lines, common electrodes branch from the common lines and are bent in the first, second and third sub-regions respectively at first, second and third angles. Each pixel electrode is connected to a drain electrode of each thin film transistor and arranged in parallel with the common electrodes. A liquid crystal layer is arranged between the first substrate and a second substrate opposite to the first substrate.

A liquid crystal display device including a gate line formed on a first substrate; first and second adjacent data lines crossing the gate line to form adjacent pixel regions in an extended direction of the gate line; only one pixel electrode line in parallel with the first data line in each of the pixel regions; a plurality of pixel electrodes formed to be protruded in the extended direction of the gate line from the pixel electrode line; a plurality of common electrodes alternately formed in parallel with the plurality of pixel electrodes and generating an in-plane electric field therebetween; and an alignment film having a rubbing direction perpendicular to the first data line.
