Provided are a superconducting rotating machine which improves the cooling efficiency of a rotor by using schemes of passively or actively circulating a coolant and a cooling method thereof. The superconducting rotating machine includes a rotor supported rotatably about a rotation axis and including: at least one superconductive coil; and a central cavity; and a cooling apparatus disposed at an exterior of the rotor and configured to communicate with the cavity, wherein the cooling apparatus includes: a condenser configured to condense a gas coolant supplied through a gas coolant supplying pipe to generate a condensed coolant; a coolant circulating unit configured to supply the condensed coolant into the cavity, configured to recover a vapor coolant evaporated in the cavity into the condenser and configured to circulate the condensed coolant; and a forced circulating unit configured to actively circulate the condensed coolant into the cavity in response to the rotor being tilted.

Superconducting rotating machine and cooling method thereof

A pump for supplying a cryogenic liquid coolant in accordance with the present invention includes: a housing having an inlet port for introducing a cryogenic liquid coolant, an outlet port for discharging the cryogenic liquid coolant introduced through the inlet port, and a chamber for connecting the inlet port and the outlet port; an impeller rotatably retained in the housing for introducing the cryogenic liquid coolant through the inlet port and discharging the same through the outlet port; and a vapor exhausting part provided in the housing for exhausting vapor generated from the cryogenic liquid coolant.

The present disclosure relates to a superconducting rotating electrical machine and a manufacturing method for a high temperature superconducting film thereof. The superconducting rotating electrical machine includes a stator, and a rotor rotatable with respect to the stator, the rotor having a rotary shaft and a rotor winding. Here, the rotor winding includes tubes disposed on a circumference of the rotary shaft and each forming a passage for a cooling fluid therein, superconducting wires accommodated within the tubes, and a cooling fluid flowing through the inside of the tubes. This configuration may allow for direct heat exchange between the superconducting wires and a refrigerant, resulting in improvement of heat exchange efficiencies of the superconducting wires.

Superconducting rotating electrical machine and manufacturing method for high temperature superconducting film thereof

A superconducting rotating machine having a cooler for a rotator is provided. The superconducting rotating machine includes a rotator wound with a superconducting coil, a stator enclosing the rotator and separated therefrom by a predetermined gap, the cooler having a cold head directly attached to the rotator and at least one compressor connected with the cold head, and a flexible coupling disposed between the cold head and the compressor and enabling a cryogenic refrigerant to flow therein. The cold head is directly connected to the rotator, and the cold head and the compressor are driven using the flexible coupling, so that it is possible to prevent vibration of the compressor and enhance cooling efficiency by thermally separating the cryogenic cold head from the compressor.

Disclosed is a cryogenic fluid circulation pump that is capable of preventing heat from permeating into a cryogenic fluid by convection during the circulation of the cryogenic fluid by the pump and, at the same time, minimizing the transfer of heat to the cryogenic fluid circulating through a shaft rotating to rotate the pump. The cryogenic fluid circulation pump includes a magnet pump unit mounted in a vacuum chamber having an introduction channel and a discharge channel formed therein to prevent heat from permeating into the cryogenic fluid by convection for rotating by a magnetic force to circulate the cryogenic fluid, when a rotary force from a power source is transmitted to the magnet pump unit.

Cooling fluid path structure for superconduction rotating machine

A cooling device for current lines of a superconducting rotating machine, which is capable of removing heat generated from the current lines of the superconducting rotating machine, thereby effectively preventing a superconducting coil from being deformed due to the heat generated from the current lines, is disclosed. The cooling device includes heat conduction members respectively mounted to outer surfaces of the current lines. Each heat conduction member is in contact with an inner peripheral surface of the stator such that the heat conduction member transfers, to the stator, heat generated from a corresponding one of the current lines. The heat conduction member further includes insulators each surrounding a corresponding one of the current lines between a corresponding one of the heat conduction members and a power slip ring arranged in the stator, to thermally insulate the heat generated from the corresponding current line.
