A method of driving an input sensor to detect a proximity of a user includes driving the input sensor in a direct sensing mode, the input sensor including first sensing electrodes and second sensing electrodes insulated from the first sensing electrodes, and upon determining the user is engaged in a call, driving the input sensor in in a first proximity sensing mode by applying a driving signal to each of the first sensing electrodes. when the user has not performed the direct touch, and driving the input sensor in a second proximity sensing mode by applying no driving signal to a first subset of the first sensing electrodes and applying the driving signal to a second other subset of the first sensing electrodes, when the user has performed the direct touch.

Input sensing part and driving method thereof

A display device includes a display panel, an input sensor operating in an input sensing mode or a proximity sensing mode, a sensor controller driving the input sensor in the input sensing mode or the proximity sensing mode, and a main controller controlling driving of the sensor controller. The input sensor includes a sensing area and a non-sensing area. The sensing area is divided into a proximity sensing area and a plurality of reference areas in the proximity sensing mode. The main controller generates a noise control signal based on a plurality of reference sensing signals sensed in the reference areas, and determines whether an object is in proximity based on the noise control signal and a proximity sensing signal sensed in the proximity sensing area.

A display device includes a display panel including a plurality of pixel rows, and a panel driver which drives the display panel. The panel driver determines whether input image data represents a still image. When the input image data represents the still image, the panel driver determines a flicker value of the still image, applies a compensation value corresponding to a carry shift interval to the flicker value, determines a driving frequency for the display panel based on the flicker value to which the compensation value is applied, and performs an alternate driving operation for the display panel at the driving frequency.

Display device and method of operating the display device

A display device includes a display panel which displays an image during a plurality of driving frames, a panel driver which drives the display panel, and a driving controller which controls a driving operation of the panel driver. The driving controller divides the display panel into a first display area and a second display area based on an image signal. Each of the plurality of driving frames includes a full frame in which the first display area and the second display area are driven, and a plurality of partial frames in which only the first display area is driven. A number of the plurality of partial frames included in each of the plurality of driving frames is changed.

A display device includes four pixel arrays, a data driver, and a demultiplexer. The data driver is electrically connected to first and second data output lines. The demultiplexer electrically connects first and second data lines to the first data output line and electrically connects third and fourth data lines to the second data output line. A driving controller divides a display panel into first and second display areas according to an operation mode, outputs a start signal indicating a start of one frame and a masking signal for indicating a start of the second display area, sets a basic driving frequency to a normal frequency when the operation mode is a normal frequency mode, sets the basic driving frequency to a frequency lower than the normal frequency when the operation mode is a multi-frequency mode, and outputs the start signal and the masking signal. The first display area operates at a first driving frequency and the second display area operates at a second driving frequency, and the scan driving circuit sequentially drives scan lines in synchronization with the start signal, and stops, in response to the masking signal, driving of some of the scan lines corresponding to the second display area.

A display device includes a display panel, a touch panel on the display panel, a host processor, and a display panel driver. The host processor receives proximity data of the touch panel. The display panel driver receives an input control signal from the host processor and drives the display panel based on the input control signal. The touch panel includes a proximity area and a non-proximity area. The host processor counts a rise of the proximity data in the proximity area to generate a first count value. The host processor resets the first count value when the proximity data in the non-proximity area increase.
