A plasma display device is provided. The plasma display device includes a plasma display panel (PDP) which includes an upper substrate on which a plurality of black matrices are formed; and an external light shielding sheet which is disposed at a front of the PDP and includes a base unit and a plurality of pattern units that are formed on the base unit and that have a lower refractive index than the base unit. A distance between a pair of adjacent black matrices is 4-12 times greater than a distance between a pair of adjacent pattern units. Therefore, it is possible for a plasma display device to effectively realize black images and enhance bright room contrast with the aid of an external light shielding sheet which is disposed at a front of a PDP and which absorbs and shields as much external light incident upon the PDP as possible. Also, it is possible to reduce the probability of occurrence of the moire phenomenon and enhance the luminance of images displayed by a PDP by forming a plurality of pattern units on an external light shielding sheet so that the distance between the pair of adjacent pattern units can fall within a predetermined percentage range of the distance between the pair of adjacent black matrices formed on a PDP, or that the width of the pattern units can fall within a predetermined percentage range of the width of black matrices formed on the PDP.

Filter and plasma display device thereof

A display apparatus includes a plasma display panel (PDP) and a filter. The PDP has a display surface, and the filter has a panel side facing the display surface of the PDP and an opposing viewer side facing away from the display surface. The filter includes a base unit. The filter also includes pattern units that absorb external light from the viewer side. The pattern units have boundaries that define widths of pattern tops and widths of pattern bottoms. A distance between a pattern top and a pattern bottom defines a pattern height. A distance between adjacent boundaries, of a pair of adjacent pattern units, at adjacent pattern bottoms can be less than a distance between the adjacent boundaries at adjacent pattern tops, less than the pattern height, and greater than a width of at least one of the pattern bottoms.

Filter, plasma display device thereof, and related technologies

A plasma display device is provided. The plasma display device includes a plasma display panel (PDP) and an external light shield sheet which absorbs external light incident upon the PDP. The external light shield sheet includes a base unit and a plurality of pattern units which are formed in the base unit. Each of the pattern units contains 2-10 weight % of light absorption particles having a size of 1 &#x3bc;m or less. Since the external light shield sheet which can absorb and shield as much external light as possible is disposed at the front of the PDP, the plasma display device can effectively realize black images and improve bright room contrast.

External light shield sheet and plasma display device using the same

A display apparatus includes a plasma display panel (PDP) having an upper substrate at which black matrices are disposed. The apparatus includes an external light shield having a panel side facing a display surface of the PDP and an opposing viewer side facing away from the display surface. The light shield includes a base unit and includes pattern units that absorb external light from the viewer side. The pattern units have boundaries defined by intersections of the pattern units and the base unit. The boundaries define widths of pattern tops disposed toward the panel side or the viewer side and define widths of pattern bottoms disposed toward the other of the panel side and the viewer side. A distance between a pair of adjacent black matrices is 4 to 12 times greater than a distance between adjacent boundaries, of a pair of adjacent pattern units, at adjacent pattern bottoms.

Plasma display device

The plasma display device comprises a plasma display panel and the filter which is formed at a front of the plasma display panel, wherein the filter includes an external light shielding sheet which comprises a base unit, and a plurality of pattern units formed on the base unit, wherein a bottom of the pattern units, which is wider than a top of the pattern units, comprises a concave having a curvature. The device can improve bright room contrast. Also, the sharpness of the display images may be enhanced by reducing the bleeding phenomenon of the display images as well as the adhesiveness of the filter may be enhanced by forming the bottom of the pattern units of the external light shielding sheet as a concave shape in which the center area is depressed into the inside.

A display apparatus includes a plasma display panel (PDP) and a filter having a panel side facing a display surface of the PDP and an opposing viewer side facing away from the display surface. The filter includes an external light shield having a first base unit and first pattern units. The first pattern units absorb external light from the viewer side and are substantially parallel to a first axis. The filter includes an electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield overlapping the external light shield. The EMI shield includes a second base unit and second pattern units. The second pattern units are conductive and substantially parallel to a second axis. An interior angle between the first axis and the second axis can be within a range of 40 to 50 degrees.

Filter and plasma display device

The present invention relates to a method of making a plasma display panel, and more specifically, a method of forming a dielectric layer on an upper substrate of a plasma display panel. According to first embodiment of the present invention, a method of forming a dielectric layer on an upper substrate of a plasma display panel, comprises steps of: forming a plurality of sustain electrodes on the upper substrate, and bus electrodes on the sustain electrodes; forming an electrode discoloration prevention layer which envelops said sustain electrodes and said bus electrodes, said electrode discoloration prevention layer including a green sheet by first casting; forming a penetration rate enhancement layer on the electrode discoloration prevention layer, said penetration rate enhancement layer including a green sheet by second casting.

Method of forming dielectric on an upper substrate of a plasma display panel

A barrier rib composition for a plasma display panel that is adapted to have a high molding property at a low pressure. In the barrier rib composition, a weight ratio of a plasticizer to a binder is less than 1. Accordingly, the barrier rib composition prevents a deformation of a substrate upon molding of the barrier rib and forms a high detailed barrier rib having a high aspect ratio.

A method for the manufacture of a rotary transformer in accordance with the present invention comprises the steps of forming two cylindrical stator ferrite blocks with the same inner diameter but different outer diameters and two cylindrical rotor ferrite blocks with different inner diameters but the same outer diameter; smoothly grinding the inner and outer surfaces of the above cylindrical rotor and stator ferrite blocks and cutting them into a plurality of rotor and stator rings, respectively; applying a bonding agent to the top and the bottom surfaces of the rotor and stator rings and layering them in order to thereby form a plurality of rotor channel grooves and stator channel grooves; inserting a catalyst between the layers that form the stator and rotor channel grooves; heating and pressing together the layered rotor and stator rings in a furnace; and, after heating and pressing, threading the coils into the channel grooves and combining the rotor and stator transformers to thereby complete the rotary transformer, thus dispensing with the need to form separate short ring grooves, and reducing the proportion of defective products.

Rotary transformer

A rotary transformer includes a rotor core formed by stacking channel parts to form a required number of channels. Each channel part is formed by stacking two kinds of annular magnetic rings so that two rings having the same outside and inside diameters are placed at both sides of a ring having the same inside diameter as the two rings but a greater outside diameter than the two rings. A stator core is also formed by stacking channel parts to form the required number of channels. The channel part is formed by stacking two kinds of annular magnetic rings so that two rings having the same outside and inside diameters are placed on both sides of a ring having the same inside diameter with the two rings but smaller outside diameter than the two rings. A thin layer of glass can be used to bond the rings of the stator or rotor together.

Rotary transformer and method for fabricating the same

An Mn-Zn-based single crystal ferrite composition containing an additive material essentially consisting of 0.2 to 2 mole % SnO.sub.2, 0.1 to 1 mole % CoO, 0.2 to 1 mole % CaCO.sub.3 and 0.02 to 1 weight % V.sub.2 O.sub.5 added to a host material essentially consisting of 51 to 54 mole % Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, 27 to 33 mole % MnO and 16 to 20 mole % ZnO. A magnetic head manufactured from the single crystal ferrite generates an enhanced reproduction output and a reduced rubbing noise, thereby achieving a high picture quality and a high resolution of images.
