A display device includes a display panel including a plurality of pixels, a power supply transmitting driving power to the pixels via a power line and stopping transmission of the driving power in response to a crack signal, a panel driver provides a driving signal to the pixels, the driving signal for displaying a black image during a non-emission period of each frame period and displaying a valid image during an emission period of each frame period, and a crack detector senses a current flowing through the power line and conditionally generate the crack signal according to values of the current sensed over M successive frame periods, where M is an integer greater than 1.

The temperature estimating apparatus further includes a temperature sensor configured to sense an ambient temperature of the display panel, and to output the ambient temperature. An organic light-emitting display panel includes a plurality of pixel columns, a plurality of first signal lines, and a plurality of second signal lines. Each of the pixel columns includes a plurality of organic light-emitting pixels. The first signal lines are arranged to correspond to the pixel columns. Each of the first signal lines connected to the organic light-emitting pixels of a corresponding pixel column. The second signal lines are respectively connected to the first signal lines and provide a first power supply voltage to corresponding ones of the first signal lines. Each of the second signal lines is connected substantially to a center portion of the corresponding first signal line.

A luminance compensator in a display device includes a temperature sensor that detects a temperature of a display panel, a temperature estimator that calculates an estimated temperature of each of a plurality of pixel blocks based on an average luminance of each pixel block and the temperature of the display panel, a first weight calculator that detects a displacement of the display panel and calculates a first temperature compensation weight for first compensation pixel blocks of the pixel blocks, the first compensation pixel blocks being adjacent to an upper side of an image pattern area displayed on a portion of the display panel, and a temperature compensator that calculates temperature compensation data by applying the first temperature compensation weight to the estimated temperature to compensate the average luminance, and outputs the temperature compensation data.

A method of driving a display device includes a writing operation and a reading operation. The writing operation includes writing first to Mth frame data in a first frame memory during first to Mth frame periods. The reading operation includes reading (L&#x2212;M)th and (L&#x2212;M+1)th frame data among the first to Mth frame data from the first frame memory during an Lth frame period. M may be three or more, and L may be an integer ranging from (M+1) to (2M&#x2212;1). The frame data read from the first frame memory corresponds to an image to be displayed. Reading and writing operations are further performed for remaining ones of the frame memories.
