A display device includes a base substrate, a plurality of display elements, a first light control layer, and a second light control layer. The base substrate includes a pixel region and a peripheral region adjacent to the pixel region. The display elements are disposed on the base substrate, overlap the pixel region in a plan view, and are configured to generate a first light. The first light control layer is disposed on the display elements, and includes a transmission part configured to transmit the first light, a first light conversion part configured to convert the first light into a second light, and a second light conversion part configured to convert the first light into a third light. The second light control layer overlaps at least a portion of the first light conversion part in the plan view and is configured to convert the first light into the second light.

Display device and manufacturing method thereof

Provided is a display device including a first base substrate, a plurality of pixels disposed on the first base substrate and each of which including a pixel area and a non-pixel area around the pixel area, a second base substrate facing the first base substrate with the pixels therebetween, and a plurality of light conversion layers disposed under the second base substrate and overlapping the pixel areas of the pixels, wherein the second base substrate includes a first part overlapping the non-pixel area, and a second part around the first part, wherein a refractive index of the first part is different from a refractive index of the second part.

Plurality of light conversion layers between first and second substrates

A display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a spacer disposed there between. The second substrate includes a black matrix pattern, a color filter, a dummy color filter and a common electrode. The black matrix pattern is formed with an opening portion which is filled by the color filter. The dummy color filter is made of same material as the color filter and extends in a vertical direction along which the spacer also extends. The spacer is formed between the first substrate and the second substrate in correspondence with location of the dummy color filter so that the effective spaced apart distance that the spacer provides between the first and second substrates is a function of a thickness of the dummy color filter.

A color filter may include a red pigment as a main component of a pigment, and at least one of a green pigment and a blue pigment as an additional pigment at 0.5-10 wt % among the entire pigment. The color filter may include a green pigment as a main component of a pigment, and at least one of a red pigment, a blue pigment, and a violet pigment at 0.5-10 wt % as an additional pigment among the entire pigment. The color filter may include a blue pigment as the main component of the pigment, and at least one of a red pigment and a green pigment as the additional pigment at 0.5-10 wt % among the entire pigment.
