A system, method, and computer-readable media are described for suggesting an action based on multiple descriptors within a textual communication (e.g. email, text message). In one embodiment, event descriptors within an email are identified and displayed to the email recipient with an indication that the descriptors are selectable. Upon receiving the selection of at least two descriptors, an action is suggested to the recipient for acceptance. Upon receiving the acceptance, the proposed action is performed.

Disclosed herein is a method and system for triggering fast-content-switching with respect to streaming media such as RTSP streaming media for instance. When a server receives a DESCRIBE request or the like from a client that is engaged in an existing streaming media session, the server will determine if fast-content-switching is supported for switching from the existing session to the newly requested session. If so, the server will include in its reply to the DESCRIBE request a parameter (one or more pieces of data) that is interpretable by the client to mean that fast-content-switching is supported, so that the client will then request the server to start the new session without the client first engaging in SETUP transactions with respect to each media stream of the new session. This process can decrease latency in switching between sessions, by reducing the likelihood that a requested fast-content-switch will fail.

A method, system, and medium are provided for presenting carrier-specific information associated with an incoming communication on a mobile network. The method, system, and medium include a device that receives call information associated with an incoming call. The call information includes carrier-identification information that is useable to identify an originating carrier responsible for originating the incoming call. The carrier-identification information is communicated to a database and the database retrieves carrier-specific data. The carrier-specific data is communicated to a mobile device and presented via a presentation component coupled to the mobile device. The carrier-specific data may include a carrier identifier ('carrier-ID'), geographic designation, and a denotation as to whether the incoming communication is an in-carrier communication versus an inter-carrier communication. The presentation component may include a display, a speaker, and a vibration apparatus.

The present invention allows a forwarding service operated by a provider of mobile communication services and a forwarding application that runs on a mobile communication device to be remotely activated by a user that does not have possession of the mobile communication device. The mobile communication device receives an activation message with instructions to automatically activate a communication-forwarding function. In response to the activation message the mobile communication device activates the requested communication-forwarding function in conformity with the instructions in the activation message. The activation message is generated and sent by an activation-message generator.

A wireless communication device comprises a wireless communication interface, a user interface, and a processing system. The wireless communication interface is configured to receive streaming content from a communication system. The user interface is configured to display the streaming content in a plurality of windows. The processing system is configured to monitor a screen arrangement of the wireless communication device and determine an amount that each of the windows is covered, and if the amount exceeds a threshold value, to initiate a packet indicating a source packet address of the streaming content being displayed in the covered window. The wireless communication interface is further configured to transfer the packet to the communication system, wherein the communication system receives the packet, and in response, ceases transmission of the streaming content being displayed in the covered window to the wireless communication device.
