A headset presents audio sounds with first and second speakers disposed in first and second earcups that fit over first and second of an end user's ears. One ear cup adjusts with a greater travel distance relative to the other earcup so that the headset rests on the end user head with the one earcup raised above an ear and the other on an ear. A position sensor disposed in the headset detects the headset configuration to turn off audio at the speaker of the earcup that is displaced from the ear while increasing volume at the speaker of the earcup that remains over an ear. In addition, when only one ear is covered by an earcup, the audio presentation converts from stereo to monoaural.

Aspects of this disclosure implement at least one sensor in a user input device with an identifiable user input on an information handling system. A method may include receiving, by an information handling system, an indication that at least one sensor, located on an outward facing surface of a frame housing a user input device, is actuated; comparing, by the information handling system, the indication to an active profile configuration; and identifying, by the information handling system, the indication as an input based on the active profile configuration. An information handling system presents audible sounds from audio information at an in-ear monitor having a speaker in a speaker housing that directs sound through a speaker tube. An angular alignment mechanism adjusts the angular orientation of the speaker tube relative to the speaker housing and a vertical alignment mechanism adjust the distance that the speaker tube extends out from the speaker housing. Position sensors detect the position of the ear tube so that an audio processor can apply the position to adjust the sound output from the speaker and the noise cancellation provided in response to external noise detected by a microphone within the speaker housing.

An information handling system mouse couples a scroll wheel at a scroll wheel position of the mouse upper surface to a five-way switch so that movement of the scroll wheel commands through the five-way switch a scroll up or down, a swipe left or right and a press down mouse click. An adjacent button provides precision or fast scroll through an interaction separate from the scroll wheel. A vibration device interfaced with the scroll wheel provides haptic feedback of end user interactions, such as by providing vibrations with a vertical orientation from a position below the scroll wheel.

An information handling system mouse couples a precision scroll button located proximate a scroll wheel of the mouse upper surface to a multidirectional switch, such as a five-way switch, so that movement of the precision scroll button commands through the five-way switch a scroll up or down at a speed defined by the end user and independent of the scroll wheel speed. For instance, a fast scroll at different scroll rates is commanded by actuating the five-way switch forward or backwards.

A mobile peripheral adapter rotationally couples first and second circular housings with a spindle to define and cable cavity. A cable retracts into and extends from the cable cavity by rotation of the housing portions to bring a cable connector into the cable cavity at an opening formed to align with the cable connector at retraction. First and second magnets disposed in the cable cavity retrain the cable connector when retracted. The opening at the bottom surface of the peripheral adapter reduces the vertical height of the cable cavity by providing vertical space within which the cable connector can reside.

An information handling system stylus makes inputs to a touchscreen display with a writing tip disposed at one end of a cylindrical housing. In an opening at the end of the cylindrical housing opposite the writing tip, a port and a push button are disposed under a removeable flexible cap to provide a cable connection for charging the stylus when the cap is removed and an input device to activate a wireless function when the flexible cap is in place, such as by translating end user pushes through a steel plate integrated in the flexible cap. An attachment member extends from the flexible cap into a sliding engagement with an end cap so that the flexible cap lifts out of the opening and flexes about the attachment member to expose the port in the opening.

An information handling system camera manages tilt and pan in an automated manner to direct the camera field of view. A shutter slides behind a camera cover to align a shutter opening with a cover opening. Additional sliding of the cover translates to a tilt of the camera from a full down axis to a full up axis. For example, a cam surface formed in the shutter engages the camera for tilt with a spring bias of the camera against the cam. Rotation of the camera housing about a bracket pivot gear is provided through sliding motion of a pan bar within the camera housing.

An information handling system stylus performs touch inputs at a touchscreen display with an active writing tip that receives a capacitive signal from a processing resource, such as an ASIC. A tip position controller selectively retracts and extends the writing tip at an opening formed in a tip cap disposed at the end of the stylus. A power interface cuts off power to the processing resource when the writing tip retracts and applies power to the processing resource when the writing tip extends.

An information handling system display couples a sound bar to a bottom portion with magnetic connectors of the sound bar coupled to ferromagnetic material pieces disposed in the display bottom portion. A fixed position magnetic connector at one end of the sound bar couples in a static manner to an associated ferromagnetic material piece. An adaptive magnetic position connector at an opposite end of the sound bar couples in a dynamic manner to an associated ferromagnetic piece with motion in all three dimensions so that both magnetic position connectors have a minimal gap with adjustments to the relative orientation of the display and sound bar by the adaptive magnetic position connector.

A connector system enables charging of a portable information handling system in a charging dock. The connector system has improved tolerance to misalignment of male and female connectors to facilitate engagement when the portable information handling system is inserted into a charging dock. An embodiment of a receptacle adapter is disposed such that there is only one orientation for power connector engagement. An embodiment of the charging dock has an angular tilt that causes a partial weight component of the portable computer to contribute to positive engagement of the external plug adapter and receptacle adapter. An embodiment of the connector system includes a power interface including conductive pads and pogo pins. The conductive pads have contact surfaces that tolerate alignment variation between the pogo pins and the conductive pads. An embodiment of the connector system is a USB Type-C power adapter connector system.

An information handling system peripheral stores a wireless dongle in a cavity formed in the peripheral housing. The cavity has a head end with a width that accepts a head of the wireless dongle and a connector end with a width that accepts a connector of the wireless dongle and that is too narrow for the head of the wireless dongle to fit. When inserted into the cavity, the wireless dongle is removed by pressing on the connector with a finger to raise the head out of the cavity and in position to be grasped between the finger and a thumb. The wireless dongle pivots about a raised portion in the cavity with a greater depth at the connector end providing room for the downward press. A magnet disposed in the raised portion aids in retention of the wireless dongle.

A mobile peripheral adapter has plural data and plural video ports disposed along a perimeter of a circular housing having first and second rotationally coupled portions. One housing portion includes electronic components for adapting USB information into selected of plural outputs protocols, the electronic components interfaced with the data and video ports and a USB cable. The other housing portion includes a cable guide that engages with the USB cable to retract and extend the USB cable at the housing.

A mobile peripheral adapter has plural data and plural video ports disposed along a perimeter of a circular housing having first and second rotationally coupled portions. The video ports are coupled to a first video circuit board and the data ports are coupled to a second communications circuit board separate from the video circuit board. A USB cable includes video wirelines that couple to the video circuit board and other wirelines that couple to the communications circuit board, such as data, power and ground wirelines. A flexible cable interfaces control, power and ground between the video and communications circuit boards.
