Systems and methods are provided for evicting entries from a file handle cache. In accordance with certain embodiments, a two-stage eviction process is utilized. In a first stage of the eviction process, entries in the file entry cache are analyzed and marked for eviction while a shared lock is maintained on the file handle cache. The shared lock enables the file handle cache to be concurrently accessed by a content serving system to service content requests. In a second stage of the eviction process, entries in the file handle cache that are marked for eviction are removed while an exclusive lock is maintained on the file handle cache. The exclusive lock prevents the content serving system from concurrently accessing the file handle cache to service content requests.

Two-phase eviction process for file handle caches

A computing device executes an application that is configured to call a sharing service application programming interface ('API') to create a sharing session via a sharing service. The application can call the sharing service API to utilize one or more methods exposed by the sharing service API to connect to the sharing service and initiated the creation of the sharing session. The computing device can join the sharing session with one or more other computing devices. The computing device can receive data via the sharing session from one or more of the other computing devices. The data can include screen data and/or application data.

Application programming interface for a sharing service

A distributed caching hierarchy that includes multiple edge routing servers, at least some of which receiving content requests from client computing systems via a load balancer. When receiving a content request, an edge routing server identifies which of the edge caching servers the requested content would be in if the requested content were to be cached within the edge caching servers, and distributes the content request to the identified edge caching server in a deterministic and predictable manner to increase the likelihood of increasing a cache-hit ratio.

Proxy-based cache content distribution and affinity

A caching system segments content into multiple, individually cacheable chunks cached by a cache server that caches partial content and serves byte range requests with low latency and fewer duplicate requests to an origin server. The system receives a request from a client for a byte range of a content resource. The system determines the chunks overlapped by the specified byte range and sends a byte range request to the origin server for the overlapped chunks not already stored in a cache. The system stores the bytes of received responses as chunks in the cache and responds to the received request using the chunks stored in the cache. The system serves subsequent requests that overlap with previously requested ranges of bytes from the already retrieved chunks in the cache and makes requests to the origin server only for those chunks that a client has not previously requested.

Byte range caching

Video game tasks are delegated using a sharing service. A first computing device is configured to execute a game application. The first computing device can receive a request from a first user to delegate play of the game application to a second user so that the second user can attempt to complete a game task on behalf of the first user by controlling the game application from a second computing device that is associated with the second user. Control of the game application can be made available from the second computing device to the first computing device via a sharing session that is created and managed by a sharing service to which the first computing device and the second computing device are connected.

A system and method for enhancing fitness in an office environment includes receiving fitness goal data corresponding to a targeted fitness goal of at least one user. The user initiates a document processing request to commence processing on a networked document processing device. The user provides data identifying at least one electronic document desired for processing. Data relative to the user's location and the document processing devices is used, along with historical fitness information relative to the user and a user's fitness goal, to generate suggested document processing devices which are distanced so as to afford progress toward those goals.

An intelligent caching system is described herein that intelligently consolidates the name-value pairs in content requests containing query strings so that only substantially non-redundant responses are cached, thereby saving cache proxy resources. The intelligent caching system determines which name-value pairs in the query string can affect the redundancy of the content response and which name-value pairs can be ignored. The intelligent caching system organically builds the list of relevant name-value pairs by relying on a custom response header or other indication from the content server. Thus, the intelligent caching system results in fewer requests to the content server as well as fewer objects in the cache.

Facilitating management of digital certificates is addressed. More specifically, digital certificates as well as public and private keys can be stored in a centrally accessible location and dynamically acquired from the location as needed. Additionally, binding of digital certificates and associated keys can be implicit and determined as a function of a host name provided during protocol negotiation, for example.

Requests for content can be received from clients and forwarded to servers, and responses to the requests can be received from the servers and forwarded to the clients. A health model can also be maintained. The health model can be based on information in the responses and possibly also on information in the requests, and the health model can indicate the health of the servers in responding to different types of requests. The health model may differentiate between health in responding to requests with different features in URLs of the requests, such as different namespaces and/or different extensions.

Embodiments disclose a reverse lookup using an IP:Port-to-hostname table to identify a hostname when only an IP address and port is present in an SSL hello connection, which may occur, for example, when a non-SNI-capable client initiates the SSL hello. Once the hostname is successfully looked up, a naming convention is used to simplify the management and identification of SSL certificates. Different types of SSL certificates are supported. Multiple hostname matches may be associated with a given IP address and port in the IP:Port-to-hostname table. In such case, the first-matching hostname is always used with the naming convention to identify related SSL certificates. The naming convention is applied in such a way that it will first look for the most matching file name to the least matching file name.
