A driver chip for controlling a high-resolution display panel is presented. The driver chip is not much larger than a conventional driver chip that is currently used for lower resolution display panels. The driver chip applies data signals to the data lines of the display panel and gate control signals to a gate driver that is formed in the peripheral region of the display panel. The gate driver, which may be made of amorphous silicon TFTs, generates gate signals in response to the gate control signals from the driver chip and applies the gate signals to gate lines. Since the driver chip of the invention controls more gate lines and data lines than a conventional chip of about the same size, the driver chip may be easily adapted for display devices having multiple panels. Where multiple panels are used, the panels may be scanned simultaneously or sequentially.

Driver for operating multiple display devices

A display device includes a display panel, a gate driver, a data driver, and a signal controller that receives digital input signals including an input control signal and an input image signal in series through two or less input terminals, and processes the input image signal and applies the processed input image signal to the data driver, wherein the signal controller includes a receiver receiving the input signals and a clock generator generating a clock signal based on the input control signal, the signal controller processing the input image signal in synchronization with the clock signal. Thus, the structure of the display device can be simplified while signal loss and noises can be reduced.

Display device, driving method thereof, and signal controller therefor

A liquid crystal display device for preventing a vertical line defect includes sub-pixels arranged repeatedly in order of red, green, and blue along an N-th (where N is a natural number) horizontal line, and sub-pixels formed in a staggered structure with the N-th horizontal line and arranged repeatedly in order of green, blue, and red along an (N+1)-th horizontal line. Gate lines are formed along the horizontal lines. Data lines are formed to cross the gate lines with a gate insulating layer disposed therebetween and formed to be bent along the sub-pixels of the staggered structure. Thin film transistors are connected to the gate lines and to the data lines and pixel electrodes are connected to the thin film transistors. Storage electrodes overlap the pixel electrodes with the gate insulating layer and a passivation layer disposed therebetween to form storage capacitors. The capacitance of a red storage capacitor of the (N+1)-th horizontal line is greater than the capacitance of a red storage capacitor of the N-th horizontal line.

Liquid crystal display device and manufacturing method thereof

A liquid crystal display is provided, which includes: a liquid crystal panel including a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines, and a plurality of pixels including switching elements connected to the gate lines and the data lines, liquid crystal capacitors and storage capacitors connected to the switching elements; a gate driver for supplying gate voltages for driving the switching elements to the gate lines; a data driver for supplying gray voltages corresponding to applied data signals to the data lines; and a driving voltage generator for boosting a voltage according to a booster clock signal and for generating the gate voltages and a common voltage based on the boosted voltage, and the booster clock signal is synchronized with the common voltage.

Circuit for generating driving voltages and liquid crystal display using the same

An LCD capable of being reduced by a whole size and a defective proportion thereof being minimized. An LCD panel of the LCD includes a gate driving circuit that drives gate lines formed extended along a row direction and a line block selecting circuit that drives data lines extended along a column direction. On the LCD panel, an integrated driving chip having a controller, a memory, a level shifter, a source driver, a common voltage generator and a DC/DC converter is mounted. The integrated driving chip not only drives the gate driving circuit and line block selecting circuit, but also controls the operation of the LCD panel to display an image. Thus configured, a defective proportion of the LCD is decreased, with the whole size thereof being reduced.

Liquid crystal display

Disclosed are a liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same, in which wirings connected between pads and an integrated circuit is protected from being corroded. A pixel array is formed on a display region of a substrate. A plurality of pads are formed on a non-display region of the substrate. An integrated circuit is formed on the non-display region of the substrate and connected to the pads to generate a signal for operating the pixel array. Conductive barrier layers separated from each of the pads are formed on peripheral portions of the pads connected to the integrated circuit. The conductive barrier layers have electric potential equivalent to that of each of the pads in accordance with internal connections of the integrated circuit. When bumps of the integrated circuit and the pads are attached to each other, the conductive barrier layers prevent the pads and the wirings connected to the pads from being corroded.
