An image processing apparatus and an image processing method that reduce data transmission time by transmitting data between internal memories of a codec without passing through a system memory. Reducing the number of accesses to the system memory increases processing speed, and reduces the load of a main processor, when image data is to be encoded or decoded. The apparatus includes: an image processor processing sensing data input from various sensors and generating image data; a first codec encoding or decoding the image data using a first encoding method and generating encoded data or decoded data; a second codec encoding or decoding the image data using a second encoding method and generating encoded data or decoded data; a system memory storing the image data, the encoded data, and the decoded data; a main processor controlling the other components; and a router through which the image data is transmitted to the first codec or the second codec to encode the data, or through which the encoded data is transmitted between the first codec and the second codec.

Image processing apparatus and method of using the same

A multiplication apparatus including a multiplier and multiplicand extractor for dividing the multiplicand into partial multiplicands and dividing the multiplier into partial multipliers, and for generating partial input pairs by combining the partial multiplicands with the partial multipliers, and a multiplication executor including identical partial multiplication modules for receiving the partial input pairs and outputting partial carries and partial products. The apparatus further includes an output generator for combining the partial carries with the partial products according to the execution instruction to generate a final output. For simple multiplications, each of the partial multiplication modules can pass data to and from an adjacent partial multiplication module to calculate the partial carry and the partial product, and pass bits exceeding its own multiplication coverage.

Apparatus and method of multiplication using a plurality of identical partial multiplication modules

A method and apparatus enhances an image quality where original brightness data Xij of a concerned pixel is compared with predetermined brightness levels Xand X, which are reference variables to obtain new brightness data Yij, with an enhanced contrast. Method and apparatus for enhancing digital image quality

An image brightness level conversion method and apparatus which converts a multi-valued brightness level of an input pixel to a bi-valued brightness level using a threshold value. If the input pixel is determined to belong to an edge area, a predetermined reasonable distance by which dots should be isolated is reduced by a noise component and the threshold value is produced using the reduced distance. If the input pixel is determined not to belong to the edge area, the threshold value is produced without using the noise component. The method provides a uniform distribution of dots on the 2-dimensional space, a decrease in a generation of a void region where no dots appear around the edge area, a reduction of unpleasant appearing fixed patterns between dots, and a decrease in the generation of a typical pattern in which dots with a same color are diagonally arrayed.
