This disclosure provides techniques for managing antenna sharing on a multi-mode wireless device between coexisting cellular and WLAN modems operating on the same band. One of the modems can communicate a WLAN scanning parameter to another one of the modems, and the distribution of shared antennas between the cellular modem and the WLAN modem may be modified based at least in part on the communicated scanning parameter to accommodate a WLAN scan on channels in the shared band. The distribution of the shared antennas between the modems for the WLAN scan may additionally or alternatively be selected based at least in part on the source of a detected WLAN scanning trigger (e.g., whether the scan is triggered by an application of the wireless device or the WLAN modem of the wireless device).

Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications. In some aspects, a wireless communication device may determine that the wireless communication device is configured to use a primary component carrier (PCC), a first secondary component carrier (SCC), and a second SCC for carrier aggregation. A primary cell may be associated with the PCC, a first secondary cell may be associated with the first SCC, and a second secondary cell may be associated with the second SCC. The first secondary cell may provide control information for the second secondary cell. The wireless communication device may monitor at least one of the first SCC or the second SCC. The wireless communication device may perform an action associated with the second secondary cell based, at least in part, on monitoring the at least one the first SCC or the second SCC.

When, for example, a low-power period (e.g., CDRX OFF period) is scheduled to begin during a time defined by a measurement event timer (TTT timer), a UE may modify the low-power period. The low-power period may be modified based, at least in part on determining the low-power period of the UE will begin during a time defined by a measurement event timer, a duration of the measurement event timer, and a duration of the low-power period. Modifying the low-power period may include delaying the start of the low-power state until after transmission of the MR associated with the measurement event timer or skipping the low-power period altogether. The UE may transmit the MR based, at least in part, on the modification.

A multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system can transmit on multiple antennas simultaneously and receive on multiple antennas simultaneously. Unfortunately, because a legacy 802.11a/g device is not able to decode multiple data streams, such a legacy device may 'stomp' on a MIMO packet by transmitting before the transmission of the MIMO packet is complete. Therefore, MIMO systems and methods are provided herein to allow legacy devices to decode the length of a MIMO packet and to restrain from transmitting during that period. These MIMO systems and methods are optimized for efficient transmission of MIMO packets.

Multiple-input multiple-output system and method

Apparatus and methods are disclosed for gating reverse link transmissions of &#xbc; rate, &#xbd; rate, &#xbe; rate, and/or full rate frames in a wireless communication system, such that an access terminal can reduce its power consumption. The gating or discontinuous transmission (DTX) of the reverse link transmission may be conditionally applied based on factors such as the state of the access terminal, the filtered average power of gated the transmissions, or other factors. Apparatus and method for adaptively enabling discontinuous transmission (DTX) in a wireless communication system

An automatic gain control (AGC) circuit and method for performing AGC for an orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) receiver measures signal power of input digital signals that are derived from incoming data frames with preambles to produce gain change signals when the signal power differs from a reference target power level. The gain of an amplifier of the OFDM receiver is changed in response to the gain change signals until a preamble of the data frames is detected for the first time. The gain of the amplifier of the OFDM receiver is further changed in response to the gain change signals, after the preamble is detected, only during periods when the preambles of the data frames are being processed by the OFDM receiver such that the gain of the amplifier is not changed during periods when other portions of the data frames are being processed by the OFDM receiver.

Techniques are disclosed for detecting a packet. One technique includes sampling a received signal to produce a sequence of samples wherein the sequence of samples includes a plurality of subsequences of samples; cross correlating the subsequences of samples with a known form of the subsequence to produce cross correlations; self correlating the cross correlations to produce a plurality of self correlations; summing the self correlations; and processing the sum of the self correlations.

Packet detection, synchronization, and frequency offset estimation

Spurs cause significant problems with signal detecting, amplifier gain adjustment, and signal decoding. Various techniques can be used to mitigate the effects of spurs on a received signal. Generally, these techniques work by either canceling or ignoring the spurs. For example, a pilot mask can be used to ignore pilot information in one or more sub-channels. A Viterbi mask can determine the weighting given to bits in a sub-channel based on spur and data rate information. Channel interpolation can compute a pseudo channel estimate for a sub-channel known to have a spur location can be computed by interpolating the channel estimates of adjacent good sub-channels. Filtering of the received signal using a low-pass filter, a growing box filter, or a low-pass filter with self-correlation can be used to cancel a spur.
