Electron gun for a color CRT having main lens forming electrodes wherein a depth from a rim portion of an anode to an electrostatic field control electrode is deeper than the depth from the rim portion of a cathode to the electrostatic field control electrode, and a DQ lens action of a center beam portion formed by the DQ lens unit being weaker than the DQ lens action of an outer electron beam portion, whereby reducing a spot diameter by enlarging a main lens diameter and correcting inconsistency between a center beam and an outer beam in the DQ lens.

A Focusing electrode in an electron gun for a color cathode ray tube provides a higher degree of freedom in electron gun design and reduces errors during assembly of the electron gun. A first focusing electrode that receives a constant voltage has vertically elongated electron beam pass-through holes formed in it. A second focusing electrode that receives a dynamic voltage has electron beam pass-through holes that include a pair of burring parts formed on their upper and lower edges. The burring parts are disposed in each of the vertically elongated electron beam pass-through holes in the first focusing electrode without changing a horizontal diameter of the electron beam pass-through holes in the first focusing electrode.

An electron gun for a large-sized color cathode ray tube has three cathodes heated by a heater for emitting thermoelectrons, a first grid for controlling emitted electron beams on one side of the cathodes, a second grid for attracting the thermoelectrons gathered on the cathodes on one side of the first grid, a plurality of electrodes sequentially arranged on the second grid for accelerating and focusing the incoming electron beams, and a bead glass for fixing the electrodes spaced apart by predetermined distances, in which the thickness of the second grid is varied to decrease the divergence angle of the electron beams, and horizontal slits being rotary asymmetrical portions are formed in both sides around electron beam passing holes to contrive a quadrupole effect, thereby compensating for distortion of the electron beams on the periphery of a screen caused by a deflection aberration to thus improve resolution of large-sized Brawn tubes.

An electron gun for a color cathode-ray tube reducing the spherical aberration and the flying spot aberration, thus improving the resolution of the color cathode-ray tube. The electron gun comprises a pair of accelerating/focusing electrodes coaxial with the tube and providing a passage for the electron beams. The electrodes are spaced apart from each other by a predetermined distance and has individual common openings, and each includes an envelop having a rim adjacent a corresponding common opening, the rim surrounding the plurality of electron beams and defining the common opening, and a control electrode plate being placed in the envelop and recessed from the rim by a predetermined distance in the axial direction in order for controlling the plurality of electron beams. Each electrode plate has a center opening and a pair of opposed outer openings. The center opening may be a rectangular opening or rounded at its upper and lower ends. The outer openings are disposed at opposed sides of the center opening and each opening toward an inner surface of the envelop. The open space of the outer opening may be gradually enlarged toward the inner surface of the envelop.

The guns not only exhibit the special quality of a large aperture of lens but also achieve the desired mechanical strength of electrodes by arranging .OR right.-shaped inner electrode plates in the envelope electrodes respectively. Each of first and second accelerating/focusing electrodes for focusing three electron beams of the electron beam sources on the phosphor screen includes an envelope electrode and an electrostatic field control electrode placed in the envelope electrode. The envelope electrode includes a predetermined length of hollow envelope part and a predetermined width of rim part extending from an edge of the hollow envelope part. The electrostatic field control electrode includes a plate electrode sided by predetermined width of blades at opposed sides thereof. This blade sided plate electrode is holed at its center so as to have a center beam passing opening.

Electron guns for color picture tube

An electron gun for a color picture tube comprising six spaced grid electrodes aligned in the direction that electron beams proceed. The fourth grid electrode comprises a pair of plate-shaped grid electrodes arranged to form a space therebetween and electrically connected with each other. Both plate-shaped grid electrodes are also connected with the second of the grid electrodes so that they receive the same voltage. The space defined between both plate-shaped grid electrodes is variable within the range corresponding to 0.29 to 1.15 times the thickness of each plate-shaped grid electrode. By the construction of the fourth grid electrode, the spaces defined between respective adjacent grid electrodes can be reduced. As a result, the generation of undesirable stray is restricted. Also, the kind of using electrodes can be widely selected, since the space defined between one side fourth grid electrode and the other side fourth grid electrode can be varied.
