An apparatus and method for renewal-based resource allocation in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system are provided. A Base Station (BS) allocates resources to a Mobile Station (MS) by resource allocation information. It is determined whether the MS requires continuous resource allocation or whether the MS does not have transmission data temporarily, when a resource allocation duration for downlink resources allocated to the MS has expired. One of resource allocation termination, resource allocation renewal, and temporary resource lending to another MS is performed according to the determination. Information for updating the resource allocation information is transmitted to the MS.

Apparatus and method for renewal-based resource allocation in a broadband wireless access communication system

Selection of a relay station in a broadband wireless communication system is provided. In the broadband wireless communication system, a Base Station (BS) includes a sorter for generating a first index group in which indices of relay stations are sorted according to channel information between the BS and each relay station; a receiver for receiving a second index group in which the indices of the relay stations are sorted according to channel information between a Mobile Station (MS) and each relay station; and a selector for selecting a relay station to be used to communicate with the MS by using the first index group and the second index group.

Apparatus and method for selecting relay station in broadband wireless communication system

A method and apparatus for selecting a service path of a Mobile Station (MS) in a relay communication system. The method includes periodically transmitting, by a Base Station (BS), a preamble (or pilot) signal to the MS and Relay Stations (RSs) existing within a cell; measuring, by the RSs, a Signal-to-Interference and Noise Ratio (SINR) of a BS-RS link, and transmitting the measured SINR and the preamble (or pilot) signal to the MS; by the MS, measuring an SINR of each link using signals received from the BS and the RSs; and by the MS, computing throughput in consideration of the SINR of each link and frequency resources reused in the RSs existing within the cell, and selecting a service path having the highest throughput.

Method and apparatus for selecting service path in relay communication system

A method and apparatus for scheduling the data packets transmitted to a plurality of mobile terminals supporting multiple quality of service (QoS) grades in a multichannel wireless communication system includes a storage device for storing queues and data packets of the mobile stations, the queue and data packets of each of the mobile stations being arranged in an order of the quality of service grades; and a scheduler for allocating resources of multiple channels to the mobile stations based on different scheduling metrics separately applied to the multiple channels according to the quality of service grades, each of the scheduling metrics applied to a particular one of channels being used to select one of the mobile stations whose data packets are transmitted through the particular channel; wherein entire data packets of the mobile stations are transmitted through the multiple channels when the allocation of the channel resources has been completed sequentially for each of the multiple channels.

Apparatus and method for scheduling transmission of data packets in a multichannel wireless communication system

A method for controlling power in a communication system. In the power control method, a transmitter receives feedback information from receivers located in its own cell; determines data rates of the receivers according to the received feedback information, calculates a load of the cell by calculating an amount of data to be transmitted to the receivers; and calculates transmission power of the transmitter by comparing the load of the cell with a threshold.

Method and system for controlling power in a communication system

A method of compressing uplink control information in a wireless communication system where an MSS scans neighbor BSs upon request from a serving BS and transmits neighbor BS information to the serving BS. In the method, the serving BS broadcasts a neighbor advertisement message including the BS ID of at least one neighbor BS about which the serving BS wants to acquire information, and the BS ID of the at least one neighbor BS. The MSS then scans a channel from the at least one neighbor BS and transmits a scanning result along with a BS index of the at least one neighbor BS to the serving BS.

Method of compressing control information in a wireless communication system

A channel allocation method in a BS that communicates on at least two channels in a wireless communication system is provided. The BS receives information related to the data rates of the available channels from the MSs within its cell area, calculates the variance of the data rates for each channel, arranges the channels according to the variances, and allocates the channels in the arranged order to the MSs to satisfy the required data rates of the traffic for the MSs.

Apparatus and method for allocating channel in a wireless communication system

A resource allocation method in a multicarrier communication system where a base station allocates resources to a plurality of mobile stations according to feedback channel information from the mobile stations. The base station receives a resource request message from each mobile station and selects a set of mobile stations offering a maximum system gain without overlapped resources at a specific point in time based on the resource request messages from all mobile stations in the system. The requested resources and then allocated to the selected mobile stations.

Resource allocation method in a multicarrier communication system

A method of scheduling uplink resources in a wireless communication system supporting VoIP service is provided. A BS allocates an identical amount of the resource continuously until an uplink data rate is changed by an SS's request for a data rate change. When the data rate is changed, the SS reports this event to the BS so that the BS allocates an amount of resource corresponding to the requested data rate.

Uplink scheduling method in VoIP

A dynamic resource allocation method in an OFDMA system is provided. A base station determines if each of a plurality of SSs supports subchannel-based dynamic resource allocation. If an SS supports the subchannel-based dynamic resource allocation, the base station allocates resources to the SS on a subchannel basis. If the SS does not support the subchannel-based dynamic resource allocation, the base station allocates resources to the SS on a burst basis.

An apparatus selects an access network in a mobile station capable of receiving a service from a multi-wireless communication network. An apparatus and method for adaptively allocating subchannels according to frequency reuse rates in an OFDMA system are provided. To allocate one or more subchannels to one or more MSs, information related to an optimum FRF and a modulation scheme is received from the plurality of MSs, the number of subchannels required for each FRF is calculated according to the received information, subchannels are allocated to the BS for each FRF, based on the calculated subchannel numbers from the BS and neighboring BSs, and the allocated subchannels are allocated to the MSs.

Apparatus and method for allocating subchannels adaptively according to frequency reuse rates in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access system

An enhanced hybrid duplexing technology (EDHT)-based communication method including dividing a cell prescribed by a transmission power of the base station into at least two logical areas, dividing the system frequency band into at least two subbands, and communicating in different duplexing modes using at least one of the subbands according to a position of the terminal within the cell. According to the method, a flexible resource management is possible according to the communication environment by dividing an entire system band into at least two subbands, differentiating the bandwidths of the subbands and the duplexing techniques, and selecting and allocating the resources of the subbands according to the position of the terminal within the cell.

Cellular communication method based on enhanced hybrid duplexing technology

A resource allocation scheduling method for a cellular communication system that can avoid interference between cells. The method includes dividing a frequency band of a system into frames each having preferential allocation blocks and general allocation blocks on a time axis, classifying terminals in each cell into groups of terminals vulnerable to interference and terminals non-vulnerable to interference, and allocating resources by terminal groups according to priority orders given to the terminal groups. The preferential allocation resources designed to have the orthogonality to the interference cells, i.e., sectors, on the time axis are allocated to the terminals vulnerable to the interference, and the remaining resources are allocated to the terminals non-vulnerable to the interference.

Resource allocation scheduling method for a cellular communication system

Provided is a connection identification (CID) allocating method in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) communication system having a medium access control protocol data unit (MAC PDU) format with a header field including control information and a payload field including user data. The header field has a first CID field of a first length indicating a CID of a mobile subscriber station (MSS), a second CID field of a second length and indicating the CID of the MSS by being concatenated with a CID of the first CID field, and a type field indicating whether the second CID field is used. The method includes determining a CID to be allocated to a particular MSS; and if the length of the determined CID is equal to the first length, including the determined CID in the first CID field, including, in the type field, information indicating that the second CID field is not used, and transmitting the MAC PDU to the MSS.
