A touch sensor is disclosed. The touch sensor includes a touch panel including sensing nodes arranged in a matrix form and sensing lines connected to the sensing nodes, a touch sensing unit for providing driving signals for driving the sensing nodes, and a selector including a plurality of multiplexers for selectively providing the driving signals provided from the touch sensing unit to the sensing lines of the touch panels, wherein each of the multiplexers is selectively connected to two or more corresponding sensing nodes among the sensing nodes, and the two or more sensing nodes of the touch panel, selectively connected to each of the multiplexers, are positioned at different columns and rows.

According to embodiments, methods of scanning a touch panel and a touch integrated circuit (IC) for performing the same are disclosed. The touch IC simultaneously supplies a first driving signal having a first phase and a second driving signal having a second phase to a first driving line and a second driving line of the touch panel, respectively, and detects a sensing signal from a sensing line crossing the first driving line and the second driving line. The touch IC acquires a first scanning signal corresponding to the first driving line and a second scanning signal corresponding to the second driving line from the sensing signal.

Disclosed is a touch screen panel including a plurality of separate sensing electrodes, and a plurality of separate driving electrodes. Each of the sensing electrodes includes a main electrode and a plurality of expanded parts. Each of the expanded parts includes a sub-electrode extending from the main electrode and at least one expanded electrode extending from the sub-electrode. Each of the driving electrodes surrounds at least part of a corresponding one of the expanded parts.
