The invention refers to a transmitter that emits data in the form of a group of at least two partial telegrams that together include the data and that are shorter than an individual telegram comprising the data. The transmitter emits the group of partial telegrams according to a hopping pattern that refers to times and/or transmission frequencies of the emission of the individual partial telegrams. Furthermore, the transmitter emits the group of partial telegrams several times and at least twice. Furthermore, the invention relates to a receiver and corresponding methods.

What is described is an Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag configured for communicating with an Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader, wherein the RFID tag is configured to receive a query command from the RFID reader, to measure a duration of a TRcal signal comprised by the query command, and to determine an individual Backscatter Link Frequency for communicating with the RFID reader based on the measured duration of the TRcal signal. An active antenna device includes a terminal for receiving a signal to be transmitted, and an antenna for generating a radio signal based on the signal to be transmitted. The active antenna device further includes a controller that is configured to control the antenna depending on the intended properties of the radio signal. The active antenna device includes a coupler between the terminal and the antenna that is configured to decouple a signal portion from the signal to be transmitted. The active antenna device further includes an energy converter that is connected between the coupler and the controller and configured to provide a power signal for the operation of the controller based on the decoupled signal portion.

An RFID reader includes a transmitter, a receiver, and an evaluator. The receiver receives signals from RFID tags within a given number of slots of a time frame with a given frame size and provides a number of successful slots and a number of collided slots. The evaluator sets a modified frame size based on an estimated number of RFID tags which is determined based on the frame size, the number of successful slots, and the number of collided slots. An antenna device has a radiating unit having a plurality of antennas, configured to emit a radio signal with a radiation pattern. In addition, the antenna device has a calculator configured to generate and to apply to the plurality of antennas a plurality of feed signals based on an identification signal provided in order to generate the radio signal. The calculator is additionally configured to control the feed signals in a time-varying manner so that the radio signal is emitted with a time-varying radiation pattern.

Embodiments provide an RFID reader. The RFID reader includes a collision detector, a decoder and a frame length adjuster. The collision detector is configured to detect for each slot of a plurality of slots of a current frame, in which a collision of signals transmitted by at least two RFID tags occurred, a signal property of a signal of the signals transmitted by at least two RFID tags. The decoder is configured to decode for the slot in which the collision is detected the signal of the signals transmitted by the at least two RFID tags using the detected signal property, wherein a collision recover probability describing a probability that the decoder can accurately decode the one signal depends on a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the current frame. The frame length adjuster is configured to adjust a frame length of a subsequent frame in dependence on the collision recover probability.

A reader for wirelessly receiving a signal from a tag, the signal having a portion on a first side, a portion on a second side and a synchronization sequence to be detected between the first and the second side, wherein the portion on the first side, the synchronization sequence and the portion on the second side are serially arranged with each other, has a processor. The processor is configured for storing the received signal, for detecting the synchronization sequence in the received signal, for calculating a transmission characteristic between the tag and the reader, using the portion of the received signal on the first side and for extracting a payload information from the portion of the received signal on the second side, using the calculated transmission characteristic.

The rotating part comprises a sensor () which reflects electromagnetic waves and which can be measurably deformed as a result of a mechanical stress exerted on said rotating part () The two antennas (A, A) receiving the reflected signals of the sensor () are arranged in the bearing housing () in such a way that they cannot rotate in relation to the sensor and are distanced (&#x3b1;). Said antennas emit receiving signals (a,a) which are sent to an electronic evaluation system () which measures the mechanical stresses of the rotating part () on the basis of both receiving signals (a,a).
