Apparatus for deterring birds and animals from roosting on boat decks and other surface areas in form of a mechanical repeller includes a bracket for attachment to a surface area, and a housing including a quick-release fastening device to connect the housing with the bracket. The quick-release fastening device forms a pivotable bearing between the housing and the bracket. At least one pole extends from the housing and a bearing supports the housing in the bearing. An electric motor turns the housing and thereby moves the pole above the surface area. The electric motor includes an output shaft which engages the bracket axially detachable but torque proof. A rechargeable battery is provided and supplied with electric power from a solar cell. The housing is configured in form of a closed module which accommodates the solar cell, an electronic control unit, the electric motor, and the rechargeable battery.

An access control gate with a mechanical guide forms one or more access lanes for patrons. A contactless access reader which is connected to a software controlled verification system identifies access right of patrons shortly before the person approaches a gate threshold formed by two motor driven flaps which when closed protrude into the access lane from left and right of the lateral lane boundaries. A verification system activates the flaps when an access right has been granted. Two or more photoelectric barriers define a detection zone behind the gate threshold and detect the passage of patrons through the gate threshold and the exit of the detection zone. The flaps are closed with highest possible speed after the patron has left the detection zone regularly, and are moved with low speed if an irregular passage is detected.

Device for controlling access in a passage lane

In a device for access control, the authorizations are stored on tickets in the form of a barcode. A reader unit is connected to an evaluating unit and controls devices that signal and/or block access. The reader unit has an insertion zone for a ticket wherein the insertion zone is larger than a ticket dimension. A multidirectional laser scanner scans the entire insertion zone in several lines oriented at an oblique angle relative to one another. The device can be used with different ticket formats such as air-travel tickets and check cards.

A data carrier for a non-contact data communication with a control station controlling a passage to an area or space comprises a carrier base structure, a data sending-receiving unit, a non-volatile, electrically erasable and programmable memory, a liquid crystal display for displaying data, and a solar cell unit for providing power. When the data carrier is approached to the control station, data are received from and transmitted to the control station which checks and/or changes the data content of the memory. A means for making visible the stored data on the liquid crystal display, e.g. a microprocessor, and the liquid crystal display are powered by the solar cell unit. The data carrier can be designed as a disk and handled like a coin. A housing of the data carrier can be provided with a cord wound on a spring acted spool.
