A drilling jig for surgical drilling tools is disclosed. The drilling jig comprises two sleeves of identical design mounted alongside each other on a common holder, with each sleeve being mounted on the holder so as to be pivotable in relation to each other about an axis of rotation extending perpendicular to their respective longitudinal axes. Each sleeve is hollow to allow a drilling tool to pass through. At the rear end of each sleeve is a stop surface for the drilling tool to rest against, the stop surface delimiting the depth to which the drilling tool penetrates the sleeve. Each sleeve is of two-part design and includes a bearing part and an adjusting part, with the bearing part carrying the front end of the sleeve and the adjusting part carrying the stop surface. The bearing part and the adjusting part are threaded to each other in such a manner that the spacing between the stop surface and the front end of the sleeve is adjustable by turning the adjusting part in relation to the bearing part, which enables alteration of the effective length of the sleeve without removing the drilling tool.

In order to make the covered tissue areas visible in an X-ray picture when using a surgical instrument for the retention of tissue which has at least one valve held on one side, also when using a material impermeable to X-rays, it is suggested that the contact surface of the valves have openings in a distribution which leaves an increasing, non-perforated cross-sectional area from the free end of the contact surface up to its holder.

An applicator for C-shaped scalp clips, with which a plurality of scalp clips can be applied one after the other without having to insert an individual scalp clip into the applicator after each application. For this purpose, a magazine for receiving a plurality of scalp clips is provided and the scalp clips are arranged one behind the other in the magazine, the free ends of one scalp clip thereby resting against the bridge of the adjacent scalp clip, the magazine being open at the end to which the free ends of the legs of the scalp clips point, the scalp clips being guided in the magazine for displacement in the longitudinal direction thereof and moved towards the open end of the magazine by spring means, and the applying instruments, in a first position in which they are remote from one another, projecting downwardly and upwardly into the feed path of the scalp clips at the open end of the magazine such that a scalp clip which has been moved past the applying instruments abuts thereon with its laterally projecting edge regions adjoining the application surfaces and, in a second position in which the applying instruments are brought closer together, these instruments abutting on the application surfaces of the scalp clip held between them and thereby opening the scalp clip.

An instrument for the splaying of the edges of a wound which has at least one blade. The blade has a middle part, a rim projecting at right angles from the middle part, and a mount on which the middle part is held. The middle part has two parts movable against each other by an actuator comprising a turnable rod with a screw thread section.

A magazine for receiving C-shaped scalp clips having legs connected by a bridge and with facing clamping jaws at their free ends. In order to improve positioning of the scalp clips during displacement along the magazine, the scalp clips are arranged one behind the other in the magazine such that the free ends of one scalp clip rest against the bridge of the adjacent scalp clip, the scalp clips have laterally open recesses in their bridges or the regions where legs and bridge meet and the magazine has guide rails extending along its length and engaging in these recesses.

To make possible the effective immobilization of pieces of bone with an osteosynthesis plate, the proposal is made that the longitudinal edges of the osteosynthesis plate diverge in the manner of a trapezoid, that the osteosynthesis plate be provided with two adjacent rows of slots for its screws, and that the orientations of the longitudinal axes of the slots in both rows diverge in the same directions as the diverging longitudinal edges of the osteosynthesis plate itself.
