The present invention relates to flame retardant compositions comprising (a) at least one triazine-intercalated metal phosphate with open framework structure with at least one monomer unit of the following general formula (I):(A-H)[M(HPO)(HPO)(PO)(PO)]HO&#x2003;&#x2003;(I)and (b) at least one flame retardant component other than (a). The present invention relates to azine metal phosphates, compositions containing the same, a process for preparing the same and their use as flame retardants. Typical representatives are (A-H)[MtPO].2HO and (Mel-H)[AlPO](where A=melamine or guanidine, Mel=melamine and Mt=Mg or Zn).

A composition and process is disclosed for the stabilization of halogen-containing polymers. In particular, chlorine-containing polymers such as poly vinyl chloride (PVC) are stabilized by incorporating of a stabilizer mixture having at least a perchlorate salt and an alkanolamine.
