There is disclosed a fuel cell assembly comprising at least one horizontally arranged fuel cell stack that has numerous fuel cells, each comprising an anode, a cathode and an electrolyte situated between the anode and the cathode; combustible gas supply means for supplying combustible gas to the anodes of the fuel cells; anode gas withdrawal means for withdrawing the anode exhaust gas from the anodes; cathode gas supply means for supplying cathode gas to the cathodes of the fuel cells; cathode gas withdrawal means for withdrawing the cathode exhaust gas from the fuel cells; and recirculation means for recirculating at least one part of the anode exhaust gas and/or the cathode exhaust gas to cathodes of the fuel cells. The fuel cell assembly according to the invention is characterized in that the recirculation means comprise at least one catalytic burner with catalyst material for burning the remaining combustible gas contained in the anode exhaust gas, said burner being situated at the side of the fuel cell stack.

The invention relates to a sealing device for a fuel cell arrangement having a plurality of fuel cells combined to form a fuel cell stack (), said fuel cells being permeable by the gas flows converted in the fuel cells transversely to the longitudinal direction of the fuel cell stack (), and a gas distributor () provided on the longitudinal side of the fuel cell stack () for the supply and removal of the gas flows converted in the fuel cells, wherein the sealing device comprises a sealing frame () having a number of longitudinal sealing elements () disposed between the longitudinal edge of the gas distributor () and the fuel cell stack () and composed of a dielectric material, said sealing elements being disposed in a longitudinally movable fashion for the compensation of particularly thermally caused relative movements between the fuel cell stack () and the gas distributor (). According to the invention, the longitudinal sealing elements () are closely disposed one next to the other in a gap-free fashion on the face, and a tension system having tension devices () is provided for producing a mechanical tension pressing the longitudinal sealing elements () together in the longitudinal direction between the ends of the sealing frame ().

Drainage apparatus and method of use

A method for mechanically detaching the meat from the bodies of slaughtered poultry in the form of fillets is performed with a starting product in the shape of a so called 'front-half', i.e. a body portion obtained by a cross-section made obliquely through the poultry body. From this body portion the pelvis has been severed together with the legs, and by a further step the wings have been severed. The treatment in individual processing steps, the performance of which is limited to very narrowly restricted working areas by means of tools which can thus be adapted without compromise to the anatomically conditioned circumstances. Moreover, the sequence of the processing steps is selected such that the increasing destabilization of the poultry body is controlled with each processing step so that the respective subsequent working steps are influenced in a minimum manner possible. The result is a high yield in fillet meat of excellent quality.

Method for filleting poultry bodies

In a device for delivering pasty stuffing in portions a vane rotor is provided in the outlet channel of conveying means charging the stuffing material with pressure, which rotor extends through the outlet channel and is driven by a positioning drive. The vane rotor thus is effective as a sealing element with regard to the stuffing material remaining under overpressure without changing the cross-section of the outlet channel, in a further function as a device for proportioning the mass of the stuffing material, which device is controllable over the angle of rotation, and finally, in the case of an activation in an opposite direction, as conveying means for compensating the expansion of the stuffing mass which occurs after the filling due to the pre-compression.

Device for delivering a pasty stuffing material in portions

The invention relates to an apparatus for the contactless coupling of a suspended part 9, provided with a magnet 12 and located in a housing 6 to a force measuring device outside housing 6 and which is provided with a controllable electromagnet 1. Unlike in known apparatuses of this type, the position change of the suspended part 9 is recorded in absolute terms with respect to housing 6 and used for controlling electromagnet 1. This gives greater freedom in the design of housing 6, which can now be designed for a wider temperature and pressure range than hitherto, because no longer is it necessary to take account of a distance measurement through the housing wall.

Apparatus for the contactless coupling of a suspended part to force

A suction injector, particularly for use with hypodermic injections, has a liquid container with a compartment containing pressurized gas, a hose to a cannula into a suction cup, which may be replaced after every use, consisting of an outer chamber with stored underpressure, which works, after a hole is opened by the shifting of supporting tube, moved by the pressure of skin pushing against this supporting tube. The underpressure of the suction cup starts a kind of spring driven roller pump provided with blocking dosing pegs for a multiple dosing choise. A valve for automatic reventilation is provided, as is a blocking and marking mechanism, relating to the emptying of the liquid supply, consisting of a taster finger, engaged in a hose loop, which frees the movement of a spring driven seivel arm against the skin and the suction cup, if the medicine supply is emptied. A revolution counter for the control of therapy is provided.

Suction injector II

An automatic injection apparatus has a tubular housing formed with a cylindrical boring and with a suction cup to receive a syringe with canula surrounding said cannula. The upper end of said housing is covered by a pot cylinder provided with an inlet bore for the air, having a cover with a sealing ring towards said tubular housing, fixing brackets to secure the sealing; supporting rings for the attachment of said syringe; while the piston rod is held in the central part of a folding bellows sealed to said cover. A parallel covering tube connected with said tubular housing by a base plate which contains a cross over duct between said boring of said tubular housing and a suction producing folded bellows sealed to said base plate and to a sleeve sealed to a lid plate, said shell sliding on a central bar, said sliding movement restricted by a cross pin lead by a longitudinal slot of said shell, which is surrounded by a pressure spring for extension of said folded bellows with said shell. This extension movement is blocked by a rod connected with said lid plate sliding in a guiding tube, caught in a notching groove by a catch pin, until an annular groove of a releasing bar, when lifted by the raising of a shell, surrounding the suction cup, frees the movement of catch pin and also said folding bellows, which produces suction, working through said cross over duct, so that the skin, closing the rim of said suction cup, is raised and delayed by the friction between the syringe piston and syringe cylinder. The little folding bellows collapses and presses the liquid medicine from the syringe through the cannula under the skin, elevated by suction. A nozzle, limiting a reventilation tube, effects the reventilation of the suction cup. A bush, connected with said pot cylinder, is shiftable along said rod and allows the removal of said pot cylinder from the tubular housing for a replacement of the syringe.

Suction injector

A suction injector comprises a suction cup and an exchangeable cannula inserted into the cup for injecting a liquid medicine under human skin by the action of a piston movable in a cylinder. The suction cup is formed with an outer chamber which accumulates negative pressure and an inner chamber closed with a membrane which is placed over the skin to be treated. A tubular member is provided in the suction cup having a number of flexible projections adapted to prevent communication of the negative pressure in the outer chamber to the inner chamber until the membrane is in pressure contact with the skin and to break this communication when the membrane with the skin are lifted towards the cannula.

The invention relates to a method of determining the contour of a body positioned on an examination table in order to reconstruct an absorption distribution of a radiation in a flat examination zone of the body. During a first step, the contour zone of the body situated opposite the examination table is determined, for example, by means of an optical auxiliary radiation source, so-termed first contour points thus being derived. Starting from these first contour points, so-termed absorption lengths are plotted in the direction of the body on the beam paths extending through the first contour points and the examination zone in order to approximate the contour points of the body facing the examination table. The absorption lengths are the quotients of an absorption value associated with a beam path and a predetermined mean absorption coefficient.

The suction injecting unit comprises a tubular housing adapted for receiving a disposable container for receiving the medicine to be administered, and having at one end a socket for exchangeably supporting a cannula and a removable suction cup, and at the other end a piston combined with a dosing mechanism that allows only a preset stroke of the piston. A suction apparatus controlled preferably by a pressurized gas is attached to the housing and is provided with control valves to successively establish an underpressure in the suction cup, and to maintain the underpressure in the cup while moving the piston about a predetermined stroke. No. 933,136, filed Aug. 14, 1978 now abandoned, which in turn is a continuation-in-part of my copending patent application Ser. No. 793,951, filed May 5, 1977, now U.S. Pat. No. 4,114,619 which in turn is a continuation-in-part of my application Ser. No. 634,741, filed Nov. 21, 1975, now abandoned, and the entire disclosure of which is herewith incorporated by reference. This application is also related to my copending patent applications Ser. No. 618,686 filed Dec. 21, 1975, Ser. No. 634,742, filed Nov. 21, 1975, and Ser. No. 639,685, filed Dec. 8, 1975, all of whose disclosures are also herewith incorporated by reference.

Suction injector having an adjustable dosing device

It is intended, that the invention facilitate medicine therapy by providing the medicine supply containers directly with an adjustable dose mechanism, for which a medicine propulsion through a membrane, which is under pressure, is especially intended. For injection treatment, the possibility of a direct dubcutaneous injection through a cannula placed on a dose mechanism is created, to the extent that measures are taken to maintain sterility by special sealing devices (disinfection, suction, band movement etc). The filling of the syringes from a large supply in stationary injection use can generally be facilitated through the limitation of the movement of the syringe piston by dosage stops; the projection of sterility can be achieved with greater additions and costs (rinsing systeme etc). Finally, for oral use, rinsing-fluid and medicine containers are at least functionally connected with one another, so that counting of drops and rinsing glass are dispensed with. The smallest unit, the pressurized gas ampule, allows the use of different cannulas for individual doses.

Liquid medicine dispensers with dose mechanisms for oral and injection

An injection apparatus has a medicament container whose hollow interior is subdivided by a partition into a medicament compartment housing a body of the liquid medicament and a pressurizable compartment. A positive-displacement pump has an intake connected via a conduit to the medicament compartment and is operable to pass a liquid from this intake to its output. A needle is provided on the output so that when implanted in a person this pump can be used to inject a predetermined carefully metered quantity of the medicament into the person.

Controlled-dose injection apparatus

An automatic injecting apparatus has a housing formed with a recess having an annular rim and provided with a hypodermic-holding case in which a hypodermic syringe can be held, with the needle tip of the syringe projecting into the recess and lying just inward of the rim thereof. The housing is formed with a suction chamber having a piston and connected via a passage to the recess. A spring urges this piston away from the passage so as normally to aspirate air from the recess and, when the rim is snugly engaged against the skin of a person to be injected, to pull the skin of a person to be injected into piercing contact with the needle tip. Similarly a spring-loaded mechanism is provided for pushing the plunger down. Neither the spring-operated mechanism for the syringe plunger nor the piston can be displaced, however, until detecting means provided around the rim ascertains that the rim is firmly seated against the skin of the person to be injected. Only then can the device automatically function to perform a hypodermic injection.
