Devices for discharging ground currents, more particularly in wind turbines, from electrical machines. The devices have a grounding ring mounted on a rotor of the electrical machine and a sliding contact connectable to ground and that is in contact with the grounding ring. The sliding contact element has a carbon brush with a bulk density between 1.1 and 1.4 g/cm, and the carbon brush contains a metal inclusions composed of silver, the silver proportion being between 1 and 8%.

Device discharging ground currents, particularly in wind turbines

A slip-ring configuration for electric motors and generators is provided, in which brushes made of carbon materials and slip rings of a slip-ring body are electrically conductively connected to each other. The slip rings include metallic rings of standard construction as a slip-ring base and an electrically conductive sliding layer made of a graphite material. The sliding layer has a thickness which amounts to a maximum of 11% of a radius of the slip ring and is electrically conductively fastened to the periphery of the metallic slip-ring base by gluing. A method for retooling slip-ring bodies having metallic slip rings includes machining the metallic slip rings and gluing on a sliding layer.

An electrode for use in an electrochemical process which is particularly suitable for use as an anode for an electrophoretic process includes a phenolformaldehyde resin matrix and a filler dispersed therein which is produced by graphitization of carbon black coke. Such electrodes are more stable, particularly in contact with oxidizing media, than carbon and graphite containing electrodes having a filler of different origin.
