This disclosure relates to a fluid friction clutch having a housing, a clutch disc which is arranged at one end of a shaft which is mounted within the housing, a working chamber which is configured between the housing and the clutch disc, a storage chamber for clutch fluid, and at least one feed duct which leads from the storage chamber to the working chamber. Moreover, a pressure relief device for discharging clutch fluid from the feed duct into the storage chamber is provided.

Fluid friction clutch

A fluid friction clutch () including a housing (), a clutch plate () which is situated on an end () of a shaft () mounted centrally within the housing (), a working chamber () between the housing () and the clutch plate (), a supply chamber () for clutch fluid, and a supply channel (A,B) which leads from the supply chamber () to the working chamber (). A feed pump element () which is rotatable with respect to the housing (), is situated rotationally fixed on the shaft (), and defines a shear gap () with the housing (). A valve () is situated between the feed pump element () and the supply chamber (), the valve () in the closed position effectively establishing a main working path (HA) between the feed pump element () and the working chamber (), and the valve () in an open position unblocking a discharge path (EP) between the feed pump element () and the supply chamber ().

A liquid friction clutch () having a housing (), a clutch disc ()&#x2014;rotatable relative to the housing () and which is rotatably arranged on an end () of a shaft () which is mounted centrally within the housing (), which shaft () bears on its other end () a driveable active element (). A working chamber () is positioned between the housing () and the clutch disk (). A storage chamber () is provided for the clutch fluid. A supply duct () leads from the storage chamber () to the working chamber (). A stationary clutch part () relative to which the housing () is rotatable, wherein a rotatably mounted pump element () is provided which, with the housing (), defines a shear gap ().

Liquid friction clutch

A liquid friction clutch () having a housing (), a clutch disc () rotatable relative to the housing () and which is rotatably arranged on an end () of a shaft () which is mounted centrally within the housing (), which shaft () bears on its other end () a driveable active element (). A working chamber () is positioned between the housing () and the clutch disk (). A storage chamber () is provided for the clutch fluid. A supply duct () leads from the storage chamber () to the working chamber (). A stationary clutch part () relative to which the housing () is rotatable, wherein a rotatably mounted pump element () is provided which, with the housing (), defines a shear gap ().

Regulating the rotational speed of the driven rotor of a viscosity coupling to a predetermined speed with a control circuit having a switching mechanism. When the speed drops below certain values, the speed is adjusted back to the predetermined value.
