Grinding worm, profiling gear and process for the profiling of the grinding worm

A rotating cutting tool () for machining a workpiece on a machine tool, in particular for dressing the grinding worm of a tooth flank grinding machine, having an electronic data carrier for storing data relevant to the use of the tool, has an annular data carrier () arranged concentrically to the rotation axis of the tool and having an above-average storage capacity, and said data carrier (), during the machining process, with the tool () rotating, exchanges tool-relevant data, at a high transmission rate, with a likewise annular write/read head () arranged concentrically thereto on the machine.

Rotating tool having an electric data carrier

A rotating dressing tool () coated with abrasive grains for profiling a multi-start grinding worm () for the continuous generation grinding of preferably small moduled gear teeth is provided with a stripping zone (), a pre-profiling zone () and a finish profiling zone (). After being swivelled into their dressing position about a swivel axis (F) at right angles to the axis of rotation of the dressing tool, the profiling zones are brought one after the other into engagement with the grinding worm (). The number of profile ribs in the pre-profiling zone and finish profiling zone is equal to or greater than the number of thread starts on the grinding worm.

Process and dressing tool for the dressing of cylindrical grinding worms for the continuous generation grinding of gears

The gear train of a work drive system on a machine for the continuous grinding of gears, with which by means of non-integer transmission ratio between work spindle () and drive motor () as well as a high number of teeth on the cylindrical gear () on the work spindle (), high integer transverse and face contact ratio of the gear train, and a damping ring () on the work spindle (), tonal disturbances of the workpiece incorporated in the gear unit are avoided.

Work drive for continuous generation gear grinding machine

In a process for the registration of the state of wear of a tool used in gear manufacture, where the tool has at least one abrasive tooth tip for machining a workpiece in a machining process, a cutting distance per tooth tip of the tool is determined, and this cutting distance, weighted with a wear intensity factor, compared with a specified life path constant. This life path constant indicates the maximum acceptable state of wear of the tool for the machining of the workpiece. By way of this process the wear behaviour can be registered, and a total and residual piece potential determined.

Process and device for the registration of the state of wear of tools employed in gear manufacture

A grinding wheel fixture (S) for the accommodation of a dressable grinding wheel ( ) is provided with an annular groove ( ) for the accommodation of balancing lugs ( ), the balancing lugs ( ) being for manual balancing purposes displaceable and fixable within the annular groove ( ) with respect to their angular position. The balancing lugs ( ) are divisible into at least two groups, the groups being displaceable and fixable in any desirable angular position independent of each other. The grinding wheel fixture permits a simple, quick, and nevertheless highly exact dynamic balancing, whereby repeated re-measurement and repeated correction are no longer necessary.

A grinding worm ( ) is dressed with a dressing wheel ( ), which is moved along the worm path ( ) during rotation of the grinding worm ( ). The grinding worm as well as the dressing wheel are coupled with rotary encoders ( ) and with a servomotor ( ) each. The rotation angle of the dressing wheel is coupled by a program with the rotation angle of the grinding worm within the NC control system. Thereby the grinding pattern may be shaped on the tooth flanks ( ) of the ground workpiece ( ) in such a manner that the ground toothed wheel has an optimum (smooth) running quality.

Process and device for dressing a grinding worm and for grinding pre-cut toothed workpiece

In a first step for the purpose of precentering, the dressing too; (,), without axial movement, is brought into contact with the circumference of the rotating grinding worm (,), and those rotary-angle positions of the grinding worm (,) at which the overrunning of the thread gap (,) starts of ends are determined by means of an acoustic-sensor signal and the shaft-angle encoder (,) of the grinding spindle (,). In a second step for the purpose of precision centering, the dressing tool (,) fed into the thread gap (,) is brought into contact with the left-hand and right-hand tooth flanks (,) by axial displacement. In this case, the axial infeed is stopped by means of the acoustic-sensor signal, and the exact grinding-worm thread center is calculated from the contact positions of the dressing tool (,) achieved.

Method and device for centering a dressing tool in the thread of a grinding worm

The grinding tool comprises a grinding worm flange (,) and a grinding worm (,) for the generative grinding of gears, the flange (,) being provided with location surfaces (,) for the non-clearance fixture to a grinding spindle (,). The flange (,) has an outer, slightly tapered location surface (,). On this the grinding worm (,) with an appropriately tapered bore (,) is located and connected without play to the flange (,). The grinding worm (,) comprises a bearer ring (,) and a grinding body (,), wherein the deformation resistance of the bearer ring (,) is greater than that of the grinding body (,). Centrifugally induced displacements and deformations of the grinding worm (,) are thereby minimized.

Grinding worm for the continuous generating grinding of gear wheels

A tool 1 comprises a single rib dressing roll 5 and two semi-rib dressing rolls 10, 11 separated by spacers 13. The two flanks 31, 33 of a first lead 32 of a grinding worm 30 are dressed by the two flanks 6, 7 of the single rib dressing roll, and the two flanks 35, 38 of a second lead 36 are dressed by the two flanks 14, 16 of the semi-rib dressing rolls. Fast dressing with a long service life and a short dressing stroke are thus obtained.
