An embroidery machine having a stationary stitching free arm, a pattern transfer element, and a frame having an edge and adapted to hold a workpiece to be embroidered, is used with a holding system having a support coupled longitudinally to the transfer element and movable on the frame in a longitudinal direction relative to the station. A pair of outer wheels on the support flanking the station are rotatable about respective axes generally parallel to the longitudinal direction. A center wheel on the support vertically offset from and generally between the outer wheels is rotatable about a respective axis generally parallel to the longitudinal direction. The frame edge can be engaged on one side by the outer wheels and on the other side by the center wheel to hold it in the station. A drive rotates one of the wheels, normally the center wheel, and thereby displaces the workpiece and frame held by the wheels in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction. The outer wheels normally are movable vertically on the support. A spring urges at least one of the wheels, normally both the outer wheels, vertically toward another of the wheels so that the frame does not have to be deformed to be fitted between the wheels.

System for holding a tubular workpiece in an embroidery machine

A device for adjusting the thread tension of multi-needle automatic embroidery machines in which each needle or thread lever has associated with it a thread brake having two brake disks between which there extends a thread which is guided over the thread lever to the needle. One of the brake disks which are pressed against each other by a spring is displaceable relative to the other brake disk in order to change the thread tension. To set the thread tension for all the needles embroidering and at the same time for those needles which are disconnected to zero or a maximum value, the displaceable brake disk (11) of each thread brake is mounted on a bolt (13) which is displaceable relative to both brake disks (10, 11). The bolt is provided with an abutment (13c) for carrying along the displaceable brake disk (11). Each bolt (13) of each of the thread brakes is displaceable by one of several cams (15) which are arranged jointly on a camshaft (16). The camshaft (16) can be driven by a servomotor which can be controlled by information from a data storage device which controls the automatic embroidery machine.

Variable thread tensioner for embroidery machines

A device for driving at least one of a plurality of thread levers on multi-needle embroidery machines in which the thread levers of the needles which are disconnected at the time can be uncoupled from a oscillating drive shaft by displaceable coupling elements. In order to obtain an enclosed accident-proof development of the coupling elements at the same time with high reliability in operation and only slight wear, the thread levers are arranged on coupling sleeves, which sleeves surround the drive shaft, are mounted in common in a housing and are displaceable with the housing in the longitudinal direction of the drive shaft. Furthermore, at least one coupling sleeve can be coupled to the drive shaft by means of a coupling piece fastened to the drive shaft, while the other coupling sleeves (4) are held fast in non-turnable manner together with the housing by holding bars which extend into a groove of the sleeves, the bars being fixed in position and extending parallel to the drive shaft. The outer contour of the coupling piece and the opening in the coupling sleeves which surrounds the drive shaft can have a polygonal cross section with a plurality of drive surfaces, preferably in the manner of a spline shaft. The holding bars engage in part into the groove of the coupling sleeves and in part into a groove of the housing.

Apparatus for driving thread levers on embroidery machines

The present invention relates to an automatic embroidery machine having a plurality of single-needle embroidery heads which are driven by a common main drive shaft. In order to also be able to produce drill patterns with such an automatic embroidery machine, a drill rod provided with a drill is arranged in each embroidery head, the rod being supported for movement parallel to the embroidery needle and being adapted to be driven from the main drive shaft by a transmission which makes it possible to stop the drill rod in the disengaged position. This transmission comprises a ring eccentric arranged on the main drive shaft and two carriages which are supported for displacement in a linear guide and can be coupled with each other, the drive carriage being connected via a connecting rod with the ring eccentric and the driven carriage being connected by a push rod with a central drive lever which actuates a continuous drive shaft for all drill rods.

Automatic embroidery machine having a plurality of single-needle

An embroidery machine having a plurality of needle bars mounted parallel to each other for the working of different types and colors of threads, with automatic change of the needle bars driven at the time by a drive shaft. A plurality of needle bars are movably mounted adjacent each other in a common needle bar block which is displaceable transversely to the embroidery movement. A driver is fastened on each needle bar. A drive carriage is movably guided on a guide bar arranged parallel to the needle bars. A drive carriage which is driven from the drive shaft by means of a connecting rod and a crank can be coupled by means of a switch pawl with a contact piece which is also movably guided on the guide bar. The driver of each needle bar is provided with a roller which can be selectively inserted into a fork-shaped recess in the contact piece. On each side of the upper dead-center position of the contact piece there is a separate fixed guide cam for the rollers of the needle bars which are located outside the embroidery position.

Device for the interruption of the embroidery needle movement on

An apparatus for the drive of the thread take-up on multi-head embroidery machines with at least one embroidery needle in each head, with which the thread take-up comprises a thread take-up lever, which thread take-up lever is mounted on the embroidery head pivotable back and forth about a horizontal axis and is driven by the machine main shaft. The thread take-up levers of all embroidery heads are secured on a common thread take-up shaft, the latter extending over the entire length of the machine. The thread take-up shaft is driven by a crankdrive mechanism from the main shaft of the machine.

Take-up drive for a multi-head embroidery machine

A device for the intermittent interruption of the embroidery needle movement on automatically controlled embroidery- or sewing- machines, particularly multiple head automation embroidery machines, with at least one needle bar, the latter being driven by means of a crank rod and a crank from a drive shaft. The crank rod is pivotally connected with a drive carriage. By means of a pawl the drive carriage can be connected with a driver which is fastened on the needle bar. The driver in its turn is able to be secured in an upper deadpoint position by means of a controllable holding pawl with the simultaneous separation or disconnection of the drive carriage.

Device for the intermittent interruption of the embroidery needle

A multi-embroidery machine with a common carrier for the individual embroidery frames, the carrier being mounted moveably in the longitudinal axis of the embroidery machine as well as perpendicularly thereto and being adjustable by a pantograph drive; displacement movements of the pantograph drive, which are executed by a pantograph bar (which bar extends parallel to the carrier behind the sewing heads), are transmitted to the embroidery frame carrier by connection struts. For the longitudinal movement of the embroidery frames as well as for the transverse movement, one data carrier-controlled drive each is provided, which data carrier-controlled drives are controlled directly by the pantograph drive, and the displacement movements of the drives are fed to the pantograph bar.

Multi-head embroidery machine

Embroidering machine with a needle drive mechanism for color changeover, where each of a number of embroidering stations has a number of needles, one needle rod being working, i.e., engageable by a drive bar, all others being non-working and retained by a retaining bar, which also deflects the latch levers of these needle rods and which has a gap in the working plane for the working needle rod. In that gap is also arranged a solenoid controlled pivotable control pawl which, in its normal position, does not touch the working needle rod, and which, in its actuated position, bridges the gap of the retaining bar, thereby retaining the working needle and disengaging its latch lever from the drive bar. The needle bar, which carries all the needle rods, can then shift the needle rods into and out of the retaining bar gap.

Embroidering machine

A pattern control mechanism for embroidering machines of the type which use punched tape and a gear-type analog computer with input cam slides for the generation of pattern movements in a large number of different magnitudes, the improvement relating to the cam slide driving mechanism, where pivotable horizontal slide pushers which are attached to the cam slides are selected vertically by transversely moving selector bars whose position is determined by feeler needles of the punched tape sensing device, and where the raised non-selected slide pushers remain back, while the lowered selected ones are engaged by a reciprocating pusher drive bar. The selector bars, which execute a vertical approach motion, have selector teeth which prevent the simultaneous drive engagement of both cam slides.
