A press device for draining and/or smoothing, or shaping the surface and controlling the sheet structure of fibrous pulp webs with a surface weight of under 100 g/m,, such as the fibrous pulp webs used to make graphic papers. The device has a press area which includes at least one press nip through which, during operation, the fibrous pulp web is fed at a velocity of at least 1200 m/min, under simultaneous impingement by pressure. The press area includes at least two press zones subsequent to one another. The device is further characterized by a K value of at least 2.5 kPa&middot;s&middot;m. This K value is the product of L,and I,. L,is the length of the first press zone, measured along the direction in which the web runs, and I,is the total press impulse operating on the fibrous pulp web in the entire press area.

Process for draining or smoothing a fibrous pulp web

A shoe press, in particular for a paper machine, comprising a pair of rolls, with one roll having a flexible roll sleeve that rotates around a stationary carrier and support devices, the flexible roll sleeve having axial end areas and being mounted on a carrier in a radially rotatable manner at each of its axial end areas over the support devices, each roll having a shoe with a flat support surface, the support surface of the shoe of one roll supporting an interior side of the roll sleeve, the support surfaces being arranged essentially parallel to each other to create a press opening therebetween, and at least one of the support devices being radially flexible, and in particular elastic.

Shoe press

Press device to treat a fibrous pulp web that may include a shoe press roll and a mating roll. The shoe press roll and the mating roll may be positioned to form a press nip, and at least one endless belt guided through the press nip and forming a substantially non-flexible and rigid drive element at least partially driving the press device.

Press device

Shoe press unit and method for treatment of a fibrous pulp web. The shoe press unit includes at least one press shoe, an opposing surface, a flexible press belt guided over the press shoe, and at least one force element composed of a cylinder/piston unit supported on a carrier. The at least one force element presses the press belt against the opposing surface to form a press zone elongated in a web run direction, and the cylinder/piston unit include a pressure chamber having at least one pair of cylinder/piston subunits successively positioned in the web run direction. Pressure fluid lines are coupled to respective ones of the at least one pair of cylinder/piston subunits to separately supply pressure fluid to each cylinder/pressure subunit to impart a tilting moment long a tilt axis substantially perpendicular to the web run direction. The method includes supplying a pressure fluid to a first and second pressure fluid line from a common pressure fluid source at a source pressure, supplying pressure fluid through the first pressure fluid line at a first fluid pressure to a first subunit of the at least one pair of cylinder piston subunits, supplying pressure fluid through the second pressure fluid at a second fluid pressure to a second subunit of the at least one pair of cylinder piston subunits, and maintaining a sum of the first and second fluid pressures to be substantially equal to the source pressure.

Shoe press unit

A press arrangement of a paper or cardboard machine for the treatment of a fibrous pulp sheet in a press opening that is extended in the run direction of the fibrous pulp sheet. The press opening is defined by two press surfaces, at least one of which is constructed of a flexible press sleeve that is guided over at least one press shoe. The flexible press sleeve is further able to press against the opposing press surface with the aid of the press shoe due to the creation of a fluid cushion between the press shoe and the press sleeve. The press shoe is thus able to be tensioned such that a resulting main press force is exerted in a direction that runs substantially perpendicular to the fibrous pulp sheet being guided through the press opening. A lever is designed to load the press shoe with an positive or negative force that acts on the press shoe substantially perpendicular to the resulting main press force. The additional positive or negative forces transfer a tilting moment to the press shoe whereby the press shoe tilts around a respective tilting axis. The tilting axis extends substantially perpendicular to the run direction of the fibrous pulp sheet and in the transverse direction of the press arrangement. Thus, the additional forces can, substantially, independently influence the pressure profile in the press opening, set along the run direction of the fibrous pulp sheet.

Press arrangement with lever arm to move press shoe

A press roller having a stationary carrier and a roll jacket which rotates past the support surface of the stationary carrier. A support element on the carrier, like a shoe, is pressed against the inside circumferential surface of the roll jacket by a pressure space that is beneath and acts upon the support element to press it toward the roller jacket. The support surface is at least partially hydrodynamically lubricated at the support surface of the support element. The support surface has at least one row and perhaps a plurality of rows that extend in the direction of the press roller axis comprised of a plurality of oil feed points which are separated from one another along the roller axis. The oil feed points are supplied at least partially independently of the pressure space. Each oil feed point comprises a throttling bore. One or more distribution channels in the support element deliver oil to the bores or to groups of the bores.

Lubrication of a roll jacket of a press roller

This invention pertains to an elongated gap or extended nip press comprised of two pressing elements whose pressing areas are pressed against each other, wherein each of the press areas is formed of a band-shaped jacket element, with the jacket element moving around carriers and being supported by at least one support element, wherein a change of the length of the press gap or nip and/or of the pressure distribution or pattern in the press gap is accomplished in that the portions of the press elements that form the support surfaces and/or that the support elements of at least one of the pressing elements are displaceable in or against the direction of rotation of the respective jacket element.

Elongated gap press with adjustable length

A shoe press device for treating a web, particularly for dewatering a web. A shoe press roll has a beam and a flexible press jacket around the beam. A press shoe on the beam presses the press jacket against a backing roll to define a press nip. Support elements supported on the beam press on the shoe. The support elements are in a first plurality along the shoe and a respective second plurality toward each end of the shoe. The second support elements are smaller in size with reference to their pressure area on the shoe, and there is one or more rows of second pressure elements at each end of the shoe. Different respective pressures may be applied to the main and second pluralities of support elements. The backing roll may be a sag adjustment roll including a rotatable roll jacket and support elements in the sag adjustment roll pressing on the roll jacket. The support elements in the sag adjustment roll may be similar in size with reference to the area exposed to the roll jacket and similar to or greater by one in number than the first support elements for the shoe press roll. Various devices control the pressure to the first, second and sag adjustment roll support elements.

Hydraulic support arrangement for a shoe press device

A controlled deflection roll contains support elements or groups of such support elements which support the roll shell in relation to the roll support with forces which differ with respect to one another in accordance with a predetermined function, notwithstanding the fact that the support elements are acted upon by the same control signal from a common control source. When using hydraulic support elements this can be realized by throttle elements or throttle means located in the infeed line to one of the support elements which, if desired, also can possess a cross-sectional area which differs from the cross-sectional area of the simultaneously controlled support elements.

Controlled deflection roll

A controlled deflection roll equipped with a control arrangement, wherein at the controlled deflection roll there is carried out a groupwise control of the support elements in a manner such that each commonly controlled group of support elements contains at least one support element which does not neighbor any one of the other of the support elements of such group which are effective in the same direction, or such one support element is operatively correlated with at least one support element of the group which is effective in an opposite direction. In the latter case where support elements of the common group are effective in opposite directions they may however neighbor one another in the axial extent of the controlled deflection roll. In this way deviations of the mean or average value of the product profile or sectional shape of the rolled product can be reduced, without the expenditure in the number or construction of the support elements or their controls having to be increased.
