A method prints and dries a substrate where ink containing water and pigment is printed onto the substrate in an inkjet printing process. The substrate has an initial moisture content and absorbs at least water of the ink, causing the moisture content of the substrate to rise. Radiation selectively acting on the water molecules is applied in a first drying step and then radiation selectively acting on the pigment is applied in a second drying step in such a way that after completion of the two drying steps, the water of the applied ink has essentially completely evaporated and the substrate has essentially reattained its initial moisture content. In this manner optimum drying of substrates to which ink has been applied occurs.

Method for printing and drying

A method of signaling or indicating a coloration condition upon a change of an operating condition in a printing press having a control unit, includes the steps of specifying a target ink density for a print job, storing the specified target ink density in the control unit, calculating an actual ink density using the control unit based on an actual operating condition of the printing press, comparing the actual ink density to the target ink density in the control unit, and emitting a first signal using the control unit when the actual ink density is within a range of tolerance about the target ink density stored in the control unit.

Color monitoring method for printing presses

A printing unit contains a dampening unit and an inking unit which includes a screen roller with a circumference and an ink applicator roller with a circumference and a gap having an arc length or curve length, the ink applicator roller resting against the screen roller. The circumference of the screen roller and the circumference of the ink applicator roller and the arc length or curve length of the gap are dimensioned in predetermined proportions relative to each other so as to avoid ghosting.
