A thermal overcurrent circuit breaker having a switch housing in which a thermal expansion element and a snap-action switching mechanism, which is coupled to the thermal expansion element and can be manually operated, and also a moving contact, which interacts with the snap-action switching mechanism, and a fixed contact are arranged, the fixed contact being connected to a first connection rail while contact is made with the moving contact by a second connection rail by means of the thermal expansion element. The switch housing has a number of connection chambers in which in each case one of the connection rails is arranged, wherein a two-limb spring element for making clamping contact with a connection line, which is guided into the connection chamber via a first housing opening and has the connection rail, is arranged in each connection chamber.

Thermal overcurrent circuit breaker

A switchgear unit switches high DC voltages, particularly for interrupting of direct current between a direct current source and an electrical device. The switchgear unit contains two connections which project from a housing and which are electrically conductively coupled by a conductor path, a contact system which is arranged between the first and second connections and an isolating apparatus that can be tripped by a thermal fuse. The thermal fuse contains a melting location which is arranged in the conductor path and which is connected first to the contact system and second via a moving conductor section to the first connection. The isolating apparatus is tripped and the connection between the conductor section and the contact system is broken at the melting location when an arc produced when the contact system is opened has caused the melting temperature of the melting location to be reached or exceeded.

An apparatus for remotely actuating a circuit breaker with two stable positions corresponding to a switch-on position and a switch-off position, has a drive mechanism with an electric motor. The apparatus further has first and second switches for switching the motor on and off, a transmission, a coupling mechanism for mechanically coupling the drive mechanism to the circuit breaker and a lever. The transmission can be positioned in two basic positions, and the lever is capable of being moved from a first end position into a second end position with the aid of the drive mechanism. The drive mechanism is configured such that, in the event of the lever being moved over manually from one end position into the other end position, one of the switches is actuated, with the result that the transmission is moved over from one basic position into the other basic position.

An electrical instrument switch includes a rocker switch for manual on-and-off switching and that is seated in an insulation housing. Depending on the pivot position, the rocker switch moves, with a working end that dips into the housing interior, a contact bridge between the closed position of its contact and the open position of its contact. The contact bridge is electrically connected in series with a contact spring that can be triggered thermally and hence acts as an overcurrent protection. The contact spring can move between its contact position and its open position. The contact spring is mechanically prestressed in the direction of its open position. When overcurrent occurs, it is transferred out of its contact position into its open position by a thermal triggering element. A pivot of the rocker switch counter to the mechanical prestress, in the tipping direction of the contact spring, guides the contact spring from its open position back into its contact position.
