Deflecting device for an offset frontal collision for motor vehicles, the front end of which motor vehicles has a left and a right longitudinal member (), and the deflecting device being arranged in front of a front wheel () and protecting the front wheel in the event of a collision. In order to reliably bring about an engagement embracing the front wheel () with minimal structural expenditure, the deflecting device is composed of a jib (), which is fastened to the front end of the vehicle, and a shield () which is moveable on said jib () outward transversely with respect to the direction of travel, with the jib () extending in front of the wheel () substantially transversely with respect to the direction of travel and having a guide () for the shield () and a force source () for moving the shield ().

Deflector device for partially overlapping frontal collision of motor vehicles

A deflector device for motor vehicles, the front part of the chassis which comprises a left-hand and right-hand longitudinal beam, arranged before a front wheel and configured by a deflector that projects from the longitudinal beam in a substantially horizontal manner and backward at an angle to protect said front wheel in the case of a collision. The deflector device prevents the vehicles from being caught and being pushed off the road in the event of a partially overlapping frontal collision. The deflector device comprises a deflection element which can be longitudinally displaced from a rest position to an operational position, said deflection element consisting of a slider guided on or in the deflector and a forward-facing shoulder.

In a motor vehicle, a deflecting device () for an offset frontal collision for the motor vehicle is arranged in front of a front wheel (). In order, in the event of a collision, to safely pivot the front wheel inward, the deflecting device () forms a kinematic chain, the coupling link of which is a deflector () which, under the action of a frontal impact, is pivoted to the rear and is displaced toward the outside of the vehicle. The kinematic chain is a slider crank mechanism comprising a swinging arm () which is pivotable about a bearing (), a further bearing (), a sliding guide () and the coupling link () which is connected to the outer end of the swinging arm at a pivot point () and is guided in the further bearing ().
