A rear wheel suspension for motor vehicles with a wheel carrier supporting the wheel, with a longitudinal arm extending approximately in the vehicle longitudinal direction and connected with the wheel carrier and the vehicle body and with at least two cross guide members connected with the wheel carrier which are arranged one behind the other in plan view. Whereas the longitudinal arm is elastically connected directly with the vehicle body, the two cross guide members are pivotally connected at their ends on the body side at an auxiliary frame which in its turn is elastically connected with the vehicle body by way of rubber bushings. Unilaterally acting longitudinal forces can be absorbed elastically in the bearing without causing a significant rotation of the auxiliary frame about a vertical axis which would lead to undesired steering movements of the two wheels of an axle.

Rear wheel suspension for motor vehicles

A rear wheel suspension for motor vehicles, especially for driven rear wheels which comprises a wheel carrier supporting the wheel, which is connected with the vehicle body by way of an upper cross guide member and two lower cross guide members. Additionally, a longitudinal arm is pivotally connected with the wheel carrier. This longitudinal arm is supported at the forward lower cross guide member between the two ends thereof by way of a connecting bearing which couples this guide member with the longitudinal arm approximately in the vertical direction but permits approximately horizontal relative movements between the guide member and the longitudinal arm. An instantaneous longitudinal center of rotation can be realized by this type of construction about which the wheel pivots during the spring compression movement whereas the real point of pivotal connection of the longitudinal arm is located considerably lower and nearer the wheel.

Rear wheel suspension, especially for driven rear wheels

An independent vehicle wheel suspension, especially for steered vehicle wheels of passenger motor vehicles, which includes a shock absorber strut and a support arm connected at the shock absorber strut by way of a support joint. The support arm is subdivided by way of a hinge joint into a section on the side of the wheel and into a section on the side of the body. Additionally, an intermediate guide member connects the support arm and shock absorber strut. A pivot axis between the universal joint of the intermediate guide member on the support arm side and the support joint intersects the line of action of a vertical force engaging at the point of contact of the wheel. The extension of the joint axis of the hinge joint also extends through this point of intersection. As a result of this construction the shock absorber strut 3 is to remain free of transverse forces.

Independent vehicle wheel suspension

An independent wheel suspension for motor vehicles, especially for steered vehicle wheels of passenger motor vehicles, which includes a shock absorber strut and a support arm connected thereat by way of a support joint. Additionally, an intermediate guide member connects the support arm and the shock absorber strut. A pivot axis between the universal joint on the side of the support arm and the support joint intersects the line of action of a vertical force engaging at the point of contact of the wheel. A connecting line between the universal joint of the support arm on the side of the body and the force line of action of a coil spring arranged on the support arm also extends through this point of intersection. The shock absorber strut is to be kept free of transverse forces by this construction.

Independent wheel suspension for motor vehicles

An individual wheel suspension is disclosed for a non-steered wheel of a motor vehicle such as an automobile which undergoes a change in camber by spring travel. The individual wheel suspension comprises a trailing arm which is articulated in the direction transverse to the lengthwise axis of the vehicle by at least one wishbone and connected in the lengthwise direction of the vehicle to the vehicle body via a lengthwise arm with a swivel bearing having a swivel axis which lies essentially in the direction transverse to the lengthwise axis of the vehicle, and an auxiliary device which engages the lengthwise arm at a distance from the swivel axis and by means of which the lengthwise arm is pivoted in the direction transverse the lengthwise axis of the vehicle along the swivel axis as the wheel goes up and down. The wheel suspension is characterized in that the auxiliary device engages the lengthwise arm in the vicinity of the swivel bearing-in design position of the vehicle at a vertical distance from a swivel axis whereby the auxiliary device can influence the toe-in on the wheel as it goes up and down with low construction costs and small space requirements.
