In particular for automatically determining the position of a Jamshidi needle, the invention provides a surgical needle set comprising a hollow needle and an obturator, wherein the obturator has, starting a finite distance from its distal tip, a hollow space extending longitudinally in a proximal direction, wherein at least one proximal lateral outlet of the hollow space is provided within a handle part of the obturator, and wherein the hollow space is in connection with a passage of an adapter part of an adapter, which passage extends at a finite angle to the longitudinal extent of the hollow space.

Surgical needle set and method for determining the position of a surgical instrument

In an intervertebral implant having at least two upper and two lower contact bodies that have contact surfaces. An actuator has a threaded body which has an extension axis and is provided with opposite-handed threads arranged one behind the other. Wedges sit on the threaded body in an axially moveable manner and can be moved along the threaded body by rotating the same. Ramps of at least one ramp body of a wedge engage at least with counter-surfaces of at least some of the contact bodies and extend toward one another at a finite angle of less than 90°. The wedges are double wedges having two ramp bodies arranged one behind the other, and the ramps of one ramp body are oriented differently to the ramps of the other ramp body. The ramps of the first ramp body engage directly with the contact bodies laterally.

Intervertebral implant

A device is configured to provide a large visible area and work area in the body of a patient for access to the interior of a body. The device has at least one outer part having an outer tube. An inner tube passes into the outer tube through this outer tube having at an outer tube distal end an expanding part which is expandable beyond the outer diameter of the outer tube.

The clamping element has a counterpiece and a pressing piece movable relative to the clamping element, wherein the counterpiece has a lateral opening, which frees a free mounting area, which is itself at least partially enclosed by the counterpiece in a frame-like manner. The counterpiece has a depression, which points towards the mounting area and is arranged opposite the pressing piece, wherein the counterpiece is provided with an opening arranged opposite the depression. The pressing piece is movable in the opening in the direction of the depression of the counterpiece.

Medical fastening device and medical device

An automatic detection of surgical instruments with respect to a type and a location thereof is provided with a detection system, which includes at least two surgical instruments, which each include at least one cavity extending along a longitudinal axis of the instrument and a proximal entry region to the cavity. An angle of the proximal entry region in relation to the longitudinal extension of the cavity is different in the two instruments. A sensor unit includes two electromagnetic sensors and is insertable into the cavity. One of the sensors extends axially in the cavity, and the other sensor is arranged in the entry region. A field generator generates an electromagnetic field. An analysis unit analyzes signals transmitted by the sensors to the analysis unit in accordance with the location thereof in the field of the field generator.

Detection system and method for automatic detection of surgical instruments

For determining a precise orientation and positioning of an endoscope in an electromagnetic field, an endoscope device has a proximal insertion head and has a shaft extending distally therefrom having a center axis. The shaft extends with at least one elongated lumen through the device. A sensor rod has at least two sensor coils arranged with finite spacing in relation to one another in the longitudinal direction. The at least two sensor coils are oriented in relation to one another at a finite angle.

Endoscope device

A complete removal and reinsertion of instruments is avoided when the instruments are initially not correctly positioned during a minimally invasive operation on a bone, in particular a vertebra of the spine. This aim is achieved by an instrument set for spinal operations, including a guide rod, which has a cavity extending along the axis of the guide rod, and a guide tube, which can be received in the cavity of the guide rod, wherein the guide rod has a distal lip, which is arranged eccentrically to the cavity and/or to a center axis of the guide rod.

Instrument set for spinal operations

An intervertebral implant with a support portion () and a proximal contact portion () adjoined thereto in the longitudinal direction, is better adapted, as an intervertebral implant, to the contours of the lower and upper sides of the vertebrae that are spaced apart by the implant. An upper side () and a lower side () of the implant are configured symmetrically relative to a horizontal center plane (L-Q). In particular a height of the support portion between the transition (U) thereof to the contact portion () and a distal end face () facing away from the contact portion () are greater than the height at the transition (U) and at the distal end face ().

A medical device includes a guide unit having a guide tube with a longitudinal axis, a proximal first coupling part fixedly connected to the guide tube, and a distal pivoting head with a cylindrical surface. An actuating tube is axially movable in the guide tube and is connected to the pivoting head. The actuating tube causes a pivoting movement of the pivoting head via a proximal operating element. In the device, in order to orient a distal guide element for a rotatable surgical tool more precisely and thus angularly orient the working head of such a tool, the operating element is pivotable about the longitudinal axis and causes the pivoting movement of the pivoting head by the axial displacement of the actuating tube.

Medical device

A device () for fixating a rod () on a bone with a tulip, with a pedicle screw () and with a tightening screw (). The rod clamp () is pivotable to the tightening screw and can follow transverse motions of the rod (). This increases the stability of the entire structure, particularly in the application in spine surgery.

To reduce the stress of a patient as much as possible during a percutaneous spine surgery for inserting an interbody cage between two vertebrae, between which the intervertebral disk was damaged and was therefore removed, a guide sleeve is provided for the spine surgery, which is characterized by a non-cylindrical jacket. A kit is further provided for spine surgery with at least one guide sleeve of the above-mentioned type and a dilator, having an outer contour that is adapted to the contour of the lumen of the guide sleeve. A kit for spine surgery is further provided including a guide sleeve and an interbody cage, which is to be inserted through this guide sleeve. The lumen of the guide sleeve is adapted to a maximum cross-sectional contour of the interbody cage.

For inserting a cage in the intervertebral disk space between two vertebrae, an instrument set includes a guide wire with a plurality of dilators that can be pushed over the guide wire and one over another, with a working sleeve and with a cage, in which the working sleeve is designed in its distal area such that it makes possible the fixation of its distal area in the direction of its extension with angular mobility or variable angular orientability of its proximal end.

Instrument set and method for inserting a cage into the intervertebral disk space between two vertebral bodies

An interbody cage, which has lattice-like or grid-like areas for better connection/fusion into the area of the vertebra. The cage has especially an outer frame, which includes massive support parts and, and an inner grid body. The frame determining the outer contour and the lattice or grid areas located within same are made in one piece. The cage is prepared by sintering, such as by electron beam melting or laser sintering.

Interbody cage

When processing bone tissue, the work site is often out of alignment with the insertion path of a tool device. A tool device () is provided with an endoscope (), through the working channel () of which a guiding part () and a tool part () guided in this can be moved with their distal ends to a distal working area. The tool part () has a tool shaft () with a rotating tool (). In the tool device there is a secure connection between the endoscope and the guiding part, during the task, and, this connection can be established in a simple manner prior to the beginning of the task and it can also be released again in a simple manner after the task ends. The guiding part () is able to be connected rigidly with the endoscope () axially.
