A drive system, comprising a driving motor whose speed can be adjusted by means of an operating member, an adjustable hydrostatic transmission with a pump and a hydraulic motor of which the volume throughput can be adjusted, followed by a change-speed gear, in particular one which can be shifted under load, connected to the hydrostatic transmission, wherein a control device is associated with the hydrostatic transmission, and an operating member is provided to initiate a gear shift, is arranged so that while ensuring a simple regulating concept, it exhibits subjectively good shifting behavior without costly auxiliary devices having to participate in the control response of the continuously adjustable hydrostatic transmission. This is achieved by the fact that associated with the control device is a device for determining the direction of transmission of power between the driving motor and the change-speed gear, and that after the initiation of a gear-change to a lower gear when the direction of transmission is from the change-speed gear to the driving motor, the control device adjusts the transmission ratio of the hydrostatic transmission towards a decrease in the driving speed of the hydraulic motor and that the shift can only take place at the earliest when the direction of transmission has come to be from the driving motor to the change-speed gear.

An automotive drive system for machines and vehicles, comprising a driving motor the speed of which can be continuously varied by means of a control member and a converter having control means for controlling its output speed in dependence on a depression of the speed of the driving motor determined by means of signal transmitters is arranged so that the power or torque available from the driving motor is better employed. This is achieved by controlling (adjusting) the converter to minimum transmission ratio independently of the driving motor speed when the driving motor speed resulting during operation of the drive system is greater than the driving motor speed given by a predetermined speed(rotation) depression, and on reaching the predetermined speed (rotation) depression the converter is controlled in dependence on the driving motor speed so that the driving motor speed does not fall below the controlling characteristic curve corresponding to the predetermined speed (rotation) depression.

A control device for a hydrostatic drive for at least two actuators having a variable displacement pump whose adjusting device can be acted on as a function of the displacement and/or of the delivery pressure, wherein a control valve is associated with each actuator in its hydraulic supply line and the delivery flow for each actuator is determined by means of a pressure compensator as a function of the valve preset at the control valve, is simplified while ensuring accurate control. This is achieved by having the adjusting device always set the pump at a displacement which is slightly less than the sum of the actual instantaneous volume flows required by the actuators.
