A method is provided for checking a substrate with a specified luminescent substance incorporated and/or applied areally. A substrate luminescent characteristic value for the substrate is ascertained, for which purpose a number N of luminescence intensity values are captured at respectively different locations on the value document, and the substrate luminescence characteristic value is ascertained in dependence on a rank order of the luminescence intensity values. It can be checked whether the substrate luminescence characteristic value meets a specified criterion.

A sensor and a method for checking value documents are provided, each having a luminescent sheet-like substrate and a luminescent feature applied to a partial surface of the substrate, and to a value document processing apparatus. From the spectral vectors obtained for a plurality of measurement points and characterizing the intensity of the luminescent radiation of the value document detected in at least two spectral ranges, substrate intensity values and feature intensity values are determined, based on which a pure substrate mask is determined, which contains only those measurement points which reliably lie outside the feature. Sensor and method for checking value documents, in particular bank notes, and value document processing apparatus

The present invention relates to a method, a sensor, a sensor unit and a bank-note processing machine for checking the completeness and/or authenticity of value documents. A value document comprises at least one machine-readable feature substance in at the least two locations. According to the method, the value document is excited at least locally at measuring locations. Furthermore, a feature intensity with respect to the machine-readable feature substance is captured location-resolved at several different locations of the value document. The location-based feature intensities are classified location-based with the help of a threshold value. Furthermore, location-based limits of a location distribution to be expected of the machine-readable feature substance are determined. Finally, a location-based distribution of the classified feature intensities is assessed.

Completeness check of a value document

A value document has a security marking in the form of at least two luminescing substances which are present in a defined relative quantitative share and are jointly excitable by one excitation pulse. The time courses of the intensities are different and at least one luminescing substance has a non-monoexponential time course. In a method for identifying the security marking, the time course of the total intensity is detected and a linear combination of a formula is adapted including time courses of the intensities of the luminescing substances. The security marking is identified on the basis of the linear coefficients.

An apparatus, a corresponding method, and value-document processing system for checking value documents that has at least two radiation sources for giving off electromagnetic radiation with which a value document is irradiated, at least one sensor for capturing the electromagnetic radiation emanating from the value document, and generating corresponding sensor signals. The apparatus has an evaluation device configured to derive from the sensor signals corrected sensor signals taking into account at least one spectral property of the electromagnetic radiation of the at least two radiation sources. The sensor signals corrected in this way reproduce the actual reflection or transmission behavior of the value document substantially more precisely than the uncorrected sensor signals. Disturbing remission or transmission artifacts may be attributed to so-called auxiliary emissions of the radiation sources are eliminated or at least reduced.

The invention relates to a method and a sensor for checking a value document which is moved relative to the sensor. The sensor is arranged to detect the luminescence of the value document in two different spectral regions at the same location of detection simultaneously. The invention relates to a method for checking value documents by which the similarity of the intensity spectrum of a value document to be checked to a reference spectrum can be tested. To check the similarity of the intensity spectrum recorded from the value document to be checked to the reference spectrum, not the recorded intensity spectrum itself is compared with the reference spectrum, but rather a corrected intensity spectrum adapted to the reference spectrum, which arises from the recorded intensity spectrum by a linear correction. The correction parameters of the linear correction function are ascertained by adapting the linearly corrected intensity spectrum to the reference spectrum.
