The present invention relates to a process for producing a workpiece made of glass ceramics, and to the workpiece obtainable by the process according to the invention. Further, the invention relates to the use of the workpiece obtained as a dental restoration, and to a process allowing the translucency of a workpiece to be controlled.

Process for producing a workpiece with low translucency

An assistance system for dental treatment, particularly for changing tooth color, is provided herein, including a measuring device for determining tooth data. The data captured is transmitted from the measuring device to a data processing means. The data processing means includes a camera for capturing a tooth mage. Using a selection means, a color change level for the tooth image or the teeth is specified and, thereafter, the tooth image is adapted based on the selected color change level using an adaptation means. Thus, it is possible to show the patient an image of a color change of his teeth caused by the dental treatment in relation to the appearance of his face, so the patient can judge a color change in relation to his or her face.

To produce a dental prosthetic body for an upper or lower jaw prosthesis, a prosthetic preform is provided, the prosthetic preform having approximately the same shape as the prosthetic body. The data processing device includes a reception module and the measurement device has a transmission module, for direct transmission of measured tooth data from the measurement device to the data processing device. The support system further includes an allocation module integrated into the data processing device for allocating the received tooth data to the tooth image, and a transmission module integrated into the data processing device for transmission of the tooth image inclusive of allocated tooth data to a data processing device of a dental laboratory.

An embodiment of the invention is a method for automatic calibration of dental furnaces, there is made available a dental furnace comprising a control unit adapted to control the dental furnace for performing a firing process defined by firing process parameters such as e.g. the temperature and/or a temporal temperature curve and/or a temperature gradient and/or a vacuum in a firing chamber of the dental furnace. There is provided at least one calibration firing-object sample made of a dental material, where said dental material, after said calibration firing-object sample has been subjected to a calibration firing-object process with predetermined firing process parameters, has a defined desired color stored e.g. in the control unit. Further, a color measuring device is used which, for transmission of measurement signals and/or measurement results, is operatively connected to the control unit.
