A zero insertion force electrical connector part includes a sleeve contact (socket contact) and an activation element associated with the sleeve contact. The sleeve contact has contact members with a plug contact receptacle situated between the contact members for receiving an electrical plug contact. Each contact member has a contact region. The activation element is enclosed around the contact members. The activation element is displaceable relative to the sleeve contact between non-activated and activated positions. The activation element applies a contact force to the contact members of the sleeve contact which forces the contact regions against a plug contact inserted into the plug contact receptacle of the sleeve contact to make contact with the plug contact while the activation element is in the activated position.

Zero insertion force electrical connector piece

An electrical socket contact for high-current applications includes a cage-like receptacle housing having two lateral plates on opposite sides. The lateral plates forming an interspace therebetween for holding a complementary plug contact. The socket contact further includes a contact plate insert arranged within the interspace of the lateral plates of the housing. The contact plate insert has a contact plate body extending parallel to the lateral plates of the housing. The contact plate body has a base and first and second contact plates. Each contact plate has first and second ends. The first ends of the contact plates are connected to the base of the contact plate body and the second ends of the contact plates each has a contact zone projecting away from the base of the contact plate body.

High-current terminal blade type connector

An electrical zero insertion force connector includes a first part having two housings, a second part having a plug, and a sleeve contact having contact segments with a gap. A clamp movably connects to the sleeve contact. The second housing movably connects to the first housing. The sleeve contact extends into the first housing such that the clamp engages the first housing and the contact segments engage the second housing. The second part connects to the first housing such that the parts connect together with the plug inserted into the gap. Upon connecting to the first housing, the second part disengages the second housing from the first housing and moves the second housing toward the first housing such that the sleeve contact moves with the second housing away from the clamp until the clamp moves over the contact segments and presses the contact segments onto the plug.

Electrical zero insertion force connector

A bipolar optical plug-and-socket connector for connecting two optical fibers with other optical fibers and electro-optical transmission and receiving devices includes an optical housing for holding two fiber end sleeves in which each sleeve terminates a fiber. The optical housing includes first and second housing portions which have different external forms from one another. The housing portions hold respective ones of the sleeves when the sleeves are inserted into the housing portions along a plugging direction. The housing portions join to one another in a direction running perpendicular to the plugging direction to place the optical housing in a fully assembled position while the housing portions hold the sleeves. Each housing portion includes an end lock for locking the sleeves in the housing portions. The end locks of the housing portions lock the sleeve held in the other of the housing portions when the housing portions are joined together.

Bipolar optical connector

An electrical connector consisting principally of a housing of synthetic material with a plurality of receiving chambers provided therein for receiving an associated electrical connector contact element. In at least one outer housing wall of the housing is located one orifice per receiving chamber, with a locking arm disposed therein, which is integrally formed as a single piece on this outer wall of the housing. In order for it to be possible with a single operating step to release both the primary and the secondary locking and therefore to remove the electrical connector contact elements quickly and easily from their receiving chambers, a return slope is integrally formed on the free end region of each of the locking arms. In the housing at least one further access point is provided per receiving chamber and leads from the mouth region of the housing. This access point extends substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction of the receiving chamber so that a tool inserted into the housing by way of the other access point displaces the locking arm from its locking position into its release position.

Electrical connector part

A connection device consisting basically of a socket member (1) exhibiting a termination area (2) for the connection of an electric cable and a contact area (4) joined to it by means of a base (1a), the contact area being in the form of tines and intended to receive and hold a mating pin (3), and of a separate driver member (5) in the form of a closed ring which is preferably manufactured of heat recoverable material. In order to create an electrical connection device where the driver member being retained against the contact area, creates both a mechanical force and keyed-in connection between the socket member and the mating pin when in its second functional position, a recess which is at least partial formed into the mating pin, and the tines and driver member are formed and positioned relative to each other in such a way that the driver element partially fits into the recess when in its second functional position. In addition, when using a driver member of heat recoverable material, it is advantageous if at least one locking element is provided which prevents unwanted actuation of the driver element when locked, while permitting appropriate actuation when released.
