A latch for a top of an automobile has a housing mounted on the top with a movable latching hook cooperating with a link mounted on the windshield frame. The latching hook is displaceable by an actuating device from a closed position into an open position. To produce a latch which forms a compact module, takes up little space in the transverse vehicle direction, and whose latching hook is movable by a motor, the motorized actuating device for the latching hook has a drive motor aligned approximately parallel to the lengthwise direction of the latching hook. The motor is in an operating relationship through a transverse transmission element and a downstream transmission with a drive lever to move the latching hook.

A closure for a passenger car cover which is stretched against a stationary frame of a vehicle body, comprises a housing which is arranged on the top side and has an operating element and comprises a swivellable locking hook which interacts with a connecting link mounted on the frame. In its locked position, while having an inconspicuous appearance, the lock does not project with respect to the adjoining top contour in the direction of the passenger compartment. During the opening operation, the operating element takes up a position advantageous for gripping by a user. In the locked position of the lock, a first and a second operating element are arranged in a sunk manner in a recess of the top frame. The two operating elements interact such that the second operating element will be moved into a lowered gripping position only after the operation of the first operating element.

An air guiding device for improving the road grip of a vehicle has a wing against which the air stream flows. The wing extends approximately in the transverse direction, generating a negative lift and being supported on the vehicle. The wing comprises an upper and a lower wing element which extend transversely to the vehicle, are arranged at a distance from one another and are connected with one another by end cheeks which are arranged on the end side and have an approximately U-shaped cross-section. The two wing elements and the end cheeks form a bounded gap through which air flows.

A removable device for holding beverage containers, drinking vessels, or the like, especially in motor vehicles, includes a lower support part, a receiving element located higher up with a fastening component connected thereto, and at least one connecting arm extending between the support part and the receiving element. In order for the device, which exhibits good function and simple operation, to be storable compactly in the motor vehicle when not in use, provision is made such that the connecting arm and support part are made foldable and movable from an unfolded use position into a folded lowered resting position within the receiving element.

A spoiler arrangement is arranged in the rear area of a fast back of a motor vehicle and, in the operative position, extends essentially above a rear window. So that the free design of the vehicle body is not impaired significantly and an effective protection of the spoiler arrangement is ensured when driving through an automatic car wash installation, the adjustably constructed spoiler arrangement is formed by a partial area of the rear window, the partial area in the retracted inoperative position, extending flush with the skin with respect to the adjacent rear window section.

A projection headlight is provided for a motor vehicle wherein a projection lens is encased by a disk-shaped covering having a size larger than the surface area of the lens. A light passage area is provided in the covering and portion of the covering outside the light passage area is provided with a colored coating. The colored coating exhibits variations in light transmitting properties across the surface of the coated portion of the covering. The resulting headlight has a conventional size and the function of the lens is unimpaired.
